question. I have often heard that people have an
orgasm simultaneously as they drown. I have heard it
called the most sensual way to die. Does anyone know if this is true?
Does this have any link to the asphyxiation fetish
that certain people have?
The people I have personally pulled out of the water when they were attempting to drown themselves (unintentionally), did not seem to be having a sensual experience at all. I doubt any of them would volunteer to do it again.
The only way to drown comfortably I have heard of is to go scuba diving on compressed air with your weight belt on but holding your BCD/tank loose in one hand. At some depth you develop Nitrogen narcosis and generally don’t care what happens after that so you let go of your regulator and tank. An instructor friend of mine always has to take his deep dives with another instructor because he sometimes narcs out at 130’. He says it is very pleasant.

I think it would be the absolute worst way to die.
Sinking, your last little bit of breath being used by your franticly beating heart, knowing that if you take a breath you will die, but knowing at the same time, your lungs will spasam no matter how hard you try and hold your breath. The pain and burning of lack of fresh air.
You get the picture, I would advise against trying it.

yeah, nitrogen narcosis is a very pleasant way to go (if you’re really into disorientation and confusion (and a hellofa lot of pseudo-drunkenness)). but i doubt that any drowners without scuba equipment go into nitrogen narcosis. so releet, since those who drown can’t tell you what it was like, how the hell did you come to the conclusion that drowning is a sexual experience?

and as for the link between your idea and autoerotic asphyxiation, you’d have to be jerking off prior to drowning, and on the point of orgasm as your drowned. and correct me if i’m wrong, as i’m sure tc will do, but doesn’t it take about ten minutes to drown?

No correction, jb. Drowning usually takes whatever time is required for the swimmer to inhale the first lung full of water. They will usually expel that automatically and immediately gasp another lung full of water. If their body can expel it again, it will (a REMOTE possibility that is where the ‘go down three times’ story started, but a tenuous connection at best).
By that time the victim has been without oxygen to the brain for 15 or 20 seconds.
But thank YOU for correcting me! The SCUBA instructor of whom I spoke said that a light narcosis was pleasant. When you see someone narc out, you don’t allow them to continue. Since no one has actually channeled back and explained what death in narcosis actually felt like so I do not state it as a fact. 
I read somewhere that immiment death can stimulate a sexual response in some (many?) organisms. I also read that it is not unheard for a human corpse to have an erection, but I don’t know how true that is (used as a plot device in the movie “Clerks”).
I found a dead mouse in winter when I was a kid, and decided to inspect it. It had a slender erection as long as one of its legs, in spite of being dead and frozen.
From a genetic point of view it makes some sense: genes that are in danger must be reproduced any way possible before they are all killed off forever, which is a gene’s greatest tragedy.
Adrenaline is supposed to make your muscles swell with extra blood while taking some blood from non-vital regions like the digestive system and everything else. I think that would make it pretty difficult get an erection when you’re fighting for your life.
