Is Fox News really all that bad?

Thankfully, I’m not sure that Australian former shock-jock Alan Jones is well-respected in the American political pundit community…

To be fair (for one microsecond) they did call him “President-elect” last night on their main broadcast (I knew this because my mother had it on Fox last night to cover the space launch that we got to see via the Mark I Eyeball off of the beach).

Even “conservatives” are turning away from Fox News. I’m schadenfreuding too much lately.

Yes, but did I hear that George Conway (Lincoln Project Founder) was favoring Tr Carlson to run for PotUS in '24? I mean, there is turning away from foxnews and then there is, um, what?

What!? How can you campaign against Trump’s lying and then support the one guy who perhaps more frequently misleads people?

e.g. a couple days ago Tucker gave the example of a dead guy who voted and used it as a jumping off point for a rant about how the whole election is a fraud. Of course, it turns out the case he was referring to, was not actually an incidence of fraud (the man’s widow signs her name as "Mrs <deceased guy’s name>), but of course he’s hardly going to tell his viewers his facts were wrong as so his rant was based on fk-all.

I saw an interviewer talking with some Trump supporters, and they were saying that they only watch OAN and newsmax. They said FOX could no longer be trusted, apart from Tucker Carlson.
It’s sad (and scary) to think some people’s view of the world is this broken.

It appears that the Lincoln Project did not object, per se, to the bullshit. They just found Individual-ONE to be a little too obnoxious and disgraceful, as a person. To them, Individual-ONE’s basic agenda is desirable, unlike that horrible, horrible AOC, et al, and Carlson is suave and slick and popular and might make sodomizing the country palatable to more Americans.

I was worried that I might have needed to apologize for besmirching Tucker’s good name, as he did indeed fess up on his show.

Luckily he surrounded the half-apology with a whole bunch of lies (e.g. that evidence of thousands of dead people has been presented, that he always admits his errors etc etc), and he’s sticking to his garbage conclusion. So if I apologized to him, I would also need to include a long rant about how much of a حunt he is. So let’s do neither.

Laura Ingram is just a garbage person. I caught some of her show yesterday where she and a guest were making fun of Dr. Fauci and others for their advice on how to have a safe Thanksgiving. The chyron read “Democrats want to cancel Thanksgiving and Christmas”. I just can’t fathom why she doesn’t care if some of her viewers die.

I try to keep up with Fox News (mostly the mobile site) and occasionally wade into the cesspool that is the comments section, just to see what some of them are saying. You will not be shocked to learn that this is where the crazies come out to play.

I find it interesting, though, that in the last week or so the level of crazy seems to have damped down, seemingly a lot. Of course this is highly anecdotal and I only click on articles that I’m somewhat interested in reading so maybe it’s selection bias, too. My theory is that the crazies have moved on to OAN and Newsmax.

I briefly dip into FOX a couple of times a day. Yesterday I learned that:

‘…Donald Trumps vaccinations will now be available to everyone allowing him to achieve herd immunity by early spring’

I moved on

" The parents of Seth Rich, a Democratic National Committee staffer whose unsolved murder became the basis for right-wing conspiracy theories, settled their lawsuit with Fox News on Tuesday.

“The settlement with Fox News closes another chapter in our efforts to mourn the murder of our beloved Seth, whom we miss every single day,” the parents, Joel and Mary Rich, said in a statement through their attorneys."

I don’t know about that, but signs are looking good that the Donald Trump vaccination administered earlier this month will cure that affliction by late January.

Laura Ingraham recently did a piece in which she said … you’ve known me for a long time now and you know by now that I will not lie to you or simply tell you what you want to hear …”, after which she hauls out the shovel and apparently attempts to bury the studio in bullshit.

… you’ve known me for a long time now and you know by now that I will not lie to you is a lie but or simply tell you what you want to hear is true: she doesn’t say anything simply.

Fox News pretty much self-destructed. They became perceived as trying to pander to liberals (whether they actually did or didn’t.) Their base then totally deserted them, because they want their cult media, and the liberal viewers still didn’t embrace Fox because they already have CNN, MSNBC, etc. and have no need for Fox.

So by trying to reach both, they lost both.

Fox News just was not pro-Trump enough. Trump got especially incensed when they called Arizona early for Biden.

I hope this is not considered cross-posting (I mentioned the same thing in the Stupid Republican threat in the Pit), but since it applies to Fox News, I think it is worth mentioning. Apparently Paul Ryan made some remarks that Trump should concede, and Lou Dobbs of Fox Business was so incensed that…

RINO…Republican In Name Only…about PAUL RYAN…

My mind is now officially boggled.

The right is eating itself alive. And it is delicious. :yum:

I can’t find any news reports saying this. Quite the contrary.

Once you get past the clickbait headline, Schmidt is condemning Republicans for being so stupid that they might fall for the scam again.

“Look, we have almost 48 percent of this country that’s voted for a statist, authoritarian movement with fascistic markers that’s hostile to American democracy, to the rule of law — that venerates an individual, that’s a cult of personality,” Schmidt said. “I think that Tucker Carlson is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2024.”

Nothing at all connects George Conway to Carlson, and the Lincoln Project has been continually bashing him.

Another reminder to check out every “I heard it on the internet” story.

I believe that was a funny from The Onion.
