Is Fox News really all that bad?

There is a pip in the upper right-hand corner for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. I do not know the underlying context – they are mostly not a satire show, but they have been known to make stuff up.

I fucking hate you all (okay, not really, but still). I skimmed through the entire Hannity Show last night trying to find this. While I easily lost at least 20 IQ points and really wanted to smash my computer screen (holy fuck, he and his guests are shitstains), I did not see that chyron, and their chyrons typically stay on the screen for a bit. Some of the highlights were when Jim Jordan was part of the show and there were no obvious sexual assaults of minors going on around him. I guess that’s progress.

It also didn’t appear to be from last night’s Daily Show, which I watched (Stacey Abrams, and all of the people she works with, rocks!).

My guess is that it was a shop on an earlier episode of the Daily Show exposing how most of us assume Fox will behave post inauguration.

Current Fox News website headline: “Elderly woman serial killer suspect arrested by the NYPD”

Wow, you don’t get a lot of serial killer grannies, so that’s news.

Actually, the NYPD arrested a suspect (a 66-year-old man) in the killings of elderly women. Not as exciting. :frowning: .

While I now believe that that one is faked, this one is definitely real.

From what I have been able to find, it seems to have been an image from Tuesday night, a sort of prediction. In the end, it was not all that far off the mark. At least, as far as Hannittee is concerned.

Heh, I’m surprised I haven’t seen something along the lines of:

“Unemployment on Trump’s first day in office was 4.7%. Unemployment on Biden’s first day in office was 6.9%, any questions?”

Great headline on the Fox News website today:

“CALLISTA AND NEWT GINGRICH: Remembering D-Day – they risked everything in biggest gamble of World War II”

Wow, I never realized that the Gingriches won WWII for us. Live and learn.

Of course he did. It was a huge sacrifice. Those nazi witches turned him into a newt!

A little disclosure about those concerned parents opposing “critical race theory” that Fox News has been promoting all over the place:
Fox’s anti-“critical race theory” parents are also GOP activists | Media Matters for America

(NOT)Surprise!

I don’t see a mention yet about Carlson [blaming the Jan 6th riots on the FBI] (Tucker Carlson baselessly claims 'FBI operatives were organizing the attack on the Capitol,' his latest whitewashing of Jan. 6) (Yahoo. Sorry; browsing slow on phone at the moment)

It strikes me as something of a turning point. While we could speculate that Carlson lives in a right-wing bubble prior to this, I think this time there can be little doubt he:

  1. Knows this is absolute nonsense
  2. Knows how dangerous this nonsense is

Sounds familiar.

Oh, sorry. Did someone already post it?

C’mon, they put a ‘D’ after their names what more could they do?

Tucker Carlson has always been an asshole, but I feel like he’s gone full Order 66 recently i.e. he knows he’s tearing apart democracy and the rule of law, and decided to not even pretend otherwise.

First you had the aforementioned claim that the FBI were behind the Jan 6th riots, and doubling down on this. Not JAQ any more; outright making the claim, when he must know that this is a complete pile of bollocks.

But now, in response to some fairly innocuous comments from General Mark Milley on the teaching of black history in military academies, Tucker described him as “not just a pig. He’s stupid.” and “a coward”, who only got his position from reading out what he had been told to.
Needless to say, none of these childish insults were based on any facts or accounts; General Milley of course obtained his position by being both very bright and very badass according to the people who served with him in Iraq, Afghanistan etc.

I wonder if it is due to Jan 6th? I mean, Tucker was definitely at the center of those stirring up bullshit about the election. In the aftermath of that, all the right-wing commentators perhaps had some doubts about what they do, and then need to decide to either step back from the precipice (though I don’t know any), or fully commit to it.
(Of course covid should also have been a moment of realization too; I can’t imagine living with the knowledge that I whined about a hoax virus and then 600k americans died).

Subheadline on the Fox News website today:

“Biden nominee called for population control to protect environment”

How…shocking.

  1. Knows that this will make him more popular (more money) with the suckers/marks.

They’re at least this bad:

Why are they only “temporarily” dropping the policy about whistleblowers?

Not FoxNews per se, but my cousin was watching news on the local FoxTV affiliate during which reporter Dorkmeister (not his actual name) was talking about a European withdrawal-from-Afghanistan announcement and the text of the announcement was displayed behind Dorkmeister in German. This might make sense if this area were home to a lot of German immigrants, but it is not, so the graphic looked to him more like some sort of dogwhistle.
