Well? I saw in the FAQ that 'moderators will choose whether to turn on html…" (paraphrased) And I have never seen html code as on in those things. you know, <quote> HTML code is Off. Smilies are On. vB code is On. [IMG] code is Off. </quote>
Okay, I officially cannot use quotes. >:(
This entire board does not use HTML. We use vB code instead.
Thanks, MEB. I was just wondering, if they say it’s not on, wouldn’t it be on sometimes? Or something. Guess not.
Oh, shoot–i just realized that this should be in Q’s about the MB. Whoops. I’m REALLY bad at placing threads…
The software we use to run the board, vBulletin, allows HTML as an option, and I’m sure that there’s some other vB boards somewhere that allow it. HTML code gives users an awful lot of power, though, and on a board this size, it’s a given that a few aren’t going to use that power for good. We’ve had it turned off for over a year, ever since some twerp figured out how to use it to vandalize the threads, and it’s not likely to ever be turned back on for that reason.
Once upon a time, when the board was fairly new, we had HTML coding. This gave merriment and beautiful formating to entertain the members. Your signature was unique for each post. Then came the abuse, and with more board members less free bandwidth. Then came the use of our members list to cause a disturbance in the harmony, and it was done. It came to pass that this board was used to generate deninal of service on other sites. Thus begot the days of only VB code to help secure us from the evils of hackers and miscreants. You will never again see the use of HTML code, or a members list to help the spammer or the hacker. All dispurge and scorn the hated hackers, that have caused this.
Still the watch is kept for boards and persons that decide to flood our sacred grounds with loads of excrement. Though the guardians of this board are vigilant and not deterred from their posts, some have fallen to our foes abroad, and from within. A toast to the valiant non paid souls that guard this realm. Their vigilance and preserverance have kept this board going. The loyalty of the many members has helped to raise the spirits of us all, and bonded us just a little. The pain of one is that of many, and joy for some is that for all.
Now we strike forward, with a board that is not crippled, by the many postings that it gets. Thank’s to the owners that worked it out, and to the thousands that voiced the need. I can’t but think that Cecil weighed in to get us the needed service. Now buy that next book, I really only need one of each. “Enough is as good as a feast.”
Actually… there’s a brief period, between 2:37 and 2:38 AM, when HTML is briefly turned on… and BOY, is it pure MAGIC when this happens.
If you manage to slip in a post during this magical time, use the tag <orgy> and see what happens. Just be sure to add </orgy>… or bad things can happen.
Just one minor nitpick, Harmonious Discord. Hackers aren’t the problem. The problem is twerps called script kiddies, who think that they’re hackers, but in actuality have approximately the same level of computer skills as your average trained monkey. The term “hacker” means a person skilled in the use of computers, not necessarily (or even usually) someone who commits computer-related crimes.
Version number two.

What a brazen assumption, I most certainly do not have Nits.
