Is Hurricane Frances going to screw up my vacation?

Woohoo! References to Travis McGee and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress on consecutive posts!

I knew there was a reason I loved you so, RT.

As my pal Greg once told me, “It’s not that no one will get it…it’s that the right people will get it.”

how went the vacation, mr chance? did you get wet in the keys or did you go for the delights of ohio?

Not go? It is to laugh.

Please keep your hands and feet inside the car…

Thursday. 9PM. Discover Miami International is closing on Friday.
Check with USAirways website.
Miami International is closing at 11:45AM. Our flight is scheduled to land at 11:47AM. Our flight is cancelled.
AGH!

Call USAirways and reschedule. Now if we can get to Pittsburgh’s Airport by 6AM we’ll get into Miami (via Charlotte) at about 9:45AM. Decide to go for it. Wake up kids. Wake up Mother-in-Law. Call rental car folks to make sure they’ll be ready early.

Drive all night to Pittsburgh (about 2.5 hours). Sleep at airport for 2 hours. Fly.

Get to Miami about 18 hours before Frances landfall. Drive (falling asleep) to Key West. Check into Hotel about 1PM after being on the go since 6AM the day before.

Water to choppy for boats to go out. Spend time on Key West beaches and bars. Hoist a few at Margaritaville and have expensive dinners.

Follow weather channel religiously. Canaversal appears to be wiped off the face of the earth by God. Call and cancel.

Tuesday. Drive from Key West to Orlando. Fill up rental car with gas at Marathon as there have been reports of widespread gas shortages through southern and central FLA.

8 hours to Disney. Check into Port Orleans: Riverside resort.

With 10 BILLION others. A Disney cruise ship was trapped out at sea by Frances and all the people who have been stuck out there are being put up at my resort. 1.5 hours to check in.

Enjoy Disney. Take kid to princess breakfast. Winnie the Pooh and friends dinners, etc.

Staying at the Disney resorts is a whole nother WORLD, children. They really know their hospitality. Laundry done for us. Bag carried, packages delivered, treated like a king. This is the life.

Flew back on Sunday evening. Drove home from Pittsburgh. Arrived at 2AM. Up for work at 6AM.

I am Chance. Hear me roar.
