Is it just me or are recipe servings getting bigger?

I made dinner a few nights ago - spinach risotto. I followed the recipe pretty closely since it was the first time I had ever made it. I was astonished by the amount of food the thing made. I remembered seeing that the recipe indicated that there were only four servings once the thing was prepared, and at first I thought I was imagining things. So I checked it again, and, yep - it said four servings. My husband and I managed to make eight meals (four meals each) out of it!

Has anyone else noticed that recipes that used to feed far more people now serve far fewer, or am I just crazy?

Go buy a “Cooking Light” magazine. From what I can tell, their recipes are “light” because they portion them out so small that even a dish made of pureed butter and sugar would be “light” because you only ate 1/4 teaspoon of it. Suuuuuure, an 8" pizza feeds 16 people! 8 oz of pasta serves 4-6 as an entree! A pie serves 24!

Mmmmm… Butter and sugar.

I’ve never looked at a Cooking Light magazine - other than the portion size, do they have good recipes?
