It’s hard to believe I’ve been here nearly a year now!
As it is, though, my membership is up for renewal at the end of March. No, this isn’t a request for someone to help cover the cost of my membership- I’ve got the money, but the timing is a tad awkward, as my fiancee and are going on holiday at the same time, which means I’d really prefer not to be putting things on the credit card if I can help it.
Anyway, at this stage, the plan is to simply wait until we get back in early April and re-up then, but I’m not sure what the rules are on this sort of thing… anyone able to elaborate?
I’m sure mods will be along shortly, but I’d assume that as long as you’re re-upping with the same username and details, that is reactivating your old account not signing up a completely new one with a new userid then you’ll be fine.
There’s plenty of older posters who come back periodically, picking up their old subscriptions and carrying on posting.
As you’re a regular “Member”, there should be no negative side effect to lapsing and subscribing. You won’t be able to post or search in the interim, though. The only problem would be if you created a guest account or something.
Warning to others who might consider this: Your title may change.
I was a Charter Member, took a hiatus, and returned to find the title was reset to Member.
As you note, this is true only for Charter Members. To keep their title and rebate, they cannot let their subscription lapse. And unless I’m mistaken, Charter Members’ subscriptions end in April, so right now it’s not an issue.
Martini Enfield is only a Member, so he shouldn’t suffer any negative effects by resubscribing at a later date.
What you all said; unless you’re a Charter Member, if you let your subscription lapse you can pick it up again anytime you like.
If you are a Charter Member you can resubscribe anytime you like at the Charter Member rate . . . unless you let your subscription lapse, at which time you will revert to the regular Member rate. Once a Charter Member subscription expires it cannot be reinstated.
Even if you are a charter member, you can let your membership lapse for any amount of time you choose, and pick it up later. It’s just that by so doing, you lose your chartership.
