About 4 years ago I was pulled over for speeding and found out that I was driving on a suspended license for like 1 year and 7 months(I had not received any letters informing me and am still living at the same address for over 6 years now)… When I appeared in court I went into the Plea-bargain option and talked to the DA. He informed me That CO was one of the worst for Communication between the Insurance and DMV. I was able to prove that I had Insurance for the time that was in question and was able to prove it due a State required SR22. DA asked me how long it would take me to get my license reinstated I said about 30 days he told me to go get it and come back and then rescheduled another court date. I went down to the DMV and they said that my License wasn’t suspended and I just had to pay a minumal fee retake my written test and take a new picture. When I went back to court the only charge me on speeding and never even mentioned the suspension thing.
IS there any way that I can get this expunged or removed or whatever you want to call it from my recorded? Cause it has costed me some really great paying opportunities and I have an opportunity at another great Career/JOB but worried that this will effect the out come again…:smack:
Get what expunged? The speeding charge?
The Suspension on my DMV record…
Uh, well why did your license get suspended in the first place?
Generally, traffic-ticket type stuff can’t be expunged, but after a certain amount of time (usually 4-5 years) they stop showing up when an employer or insurance company requests your driver’s record. Though these things can still show up on other background checks, I believe many states prohibit holding older offenses against you. Although the above might not apply to DUI’s and other suspend-able offenses.
Now, if the situation is that your license got suspended for no apparent reason and you need to get a clerical error cleared up, that’s probably possible. But you’ll need to be a little clearer about what the situation really is.
My license was suspended due to insurance termination but I have proof that during the time that they say it was suspended I had insurance because of a State issued SR22 which states that you have to have insurance… and they say it was suspended because they didn’t receive documentation from the insurance company stating that I had the insurance coverage.
