Is Jason Campbell the least effective starting QB in the NFL?

NFL QB Ratings for 2009

According to that list, Campbell isn’t even close to being the most ineffective.

Rumor is some Lions are now calling him “Joey” Stafford. That is not a good sign.

He’s a rookie. He’s bound to suck. The recent Ryan/Flacco/Roethlisberger stuff notwithstanding, rookie quarterbacks are hardly ever good.

Especially rookie QB’s that go to teams that recently favored WR priorities over offensive line ones in their drafts. Shit, I still think they should have gone oline with their first pick this year and gotten a QB next season.

Common theme for struggling QBs: bad o-line protection. You’d almost think there was a connection.

We should have yearly bitch-about-your-crappy-quarterback threads. The fans of losing teams will have dick-measuring arguments about whose team has waited the longest for a decent QB, while fans of playoff teams will politely post their MVP candidate’s weekly numbers with a  after it.

I got hammered for saying that. Daunte is a decent QB and he could have filled the gap nicely while we build a line. We are going to have Stafford beaten to death before the team is ready.

Whatever, man. My crappy quarterback just threw three touchdown passes in his first start, despite the fact that his best available receivers were a rookie 7th-rounder and a tight end even Cleveland didn’t want.

In fact, you want to know how bad the Tampa Bay passing options are? That same rookie 7th-rounder (Sammie Stroughter) is currently leading all Bucs not named Kellen Winslow in receptions and yards… and is on pace to finish with 38 catches for 466 yards and two scores. Cadillac Williams is third on the team with 17 catches… but none of this mattered to Josh Freeman, Rookie of the Year (;)).

I said it too and got hammered by your kid. Blame him!

Oh, how I hope the 49ers use at least one of their upcoming 1st round draft selections on a good tackle.

He is young. He has not had his football seasons turn to dust for 50 years. Although he has never seen a championship in his entire life. That is kind of sad too. If it weren’t for the Sanders years ,football may not have survived. There were 40K people at the last home game. Soon, the brand spankin state of the art stadium will be less than half full. It is getting beyond the ability to find a good spin . It is flat out depressing. In some cities fans look forward to games and seasons. In Detroit we get a chill and wonder who we will lose to this week.
I was sitting around after racquetball with a bunch of guys talking about the Lions. They were in no hurry to get home to watch the game. It is guaranteed to be a big downer.
