My wife loves that show, and well, I like the show within the show if you know what I mean. My wife still hasn’t picked up that after (and during) that show I keep playing with her boobs. If she ever makes that connection I may be in trouble. Or maybe not as long as it’s hers (my wife’s) that I’m playing with.
I’ve been watching season one on DVD, and I’m rather liking it. I really like that the MC and her husband are happily in love, because I get tired of Hollywood using the “unhappy marriage plot device” all the time. (And they are newlyweds, so being a little googly-eyed makes sense.)
I like Medium, too (only season one of that, too), though Patricia Arquette does come across as a bit whiny at times.

IMHO, they both suck equally; I got through about two episodes each before I was done in by the insipid plots. (Haunted was such a better take on the idea of communicating with the dead!) I’m surprised that the OP thinks that The Ghost Whisperer’s audience is overwhelmingly female since the only people I know who watch regularly it are straight males.
