I’m not a huge fan of trigger warnings.
Jessica Jones hits nearly every trigger in existence - HARD. I had to stop watching.

I can definitely agree with the emotive power of this comment.
Even though there are some types of issues people may have that wouldn’t be directly triggered by the elements of the show (for example, I don’t believe that someone with PTSD caused by combat would be especially triggered), JJ’s struggle with PTSD itself is intense enough that I imagine it could be difficult for anyone who’s struggled with PTSD even if they aren’t directly triggered.
When it comes to anything related to rape, kidnapping, abusive relationships (including family), this show certainly hits the triggers hard. There’s a certain ruthlessness to it, but one that is respectful of the characters who undergo these experiences as well as of the reality of dealing with this sort of trauma.
Amazingly, the show handles this material very well, rather than just bluntly wailing away at trigger points. For this reason I personally found the show to be rather healing. Having said that, I would not want to suggest that someone who chose not to watch it, or to finish watching it, should “give it another try” - I was in a frame of mind, and at enough of a remove, where the realism and respect of the show was helpful for me to experience, but for many people that would be vastly overshadowed by the difficulty of the subject matter.
