Is Kobe Bryant's alleged rape victim white or black?

Just curious and haven’t anything about her race.

White…adds the racial dynamic to the whole thing

Does it?

I mean, every time there is some incident where one person is black and another person is white, is there a “racial dynamic” there? I guess this is my complaint: just when you think you’re moving towards a color-blind society, there will always be people, especially in the media, who must draw the racial lines for you and say, “Look! Race!”

definitely white. at the risk of being banned i wont post the link but there is a site that has not only pictures but the girls name and (!) address once again proving the hypothesis that EVERYTHING is on the net.

I’ve seen the site, it contains basically everything you’d ever want to know about the girl, INCLUDING her address and phone number. I won’t post it either, but I can at least vouch that it exists. Apparntly someone leaked a document or slipped and said her name in public.

I heard that site was phony.

Also, does it matter?

I heard on TV that that information is false and those websites are going to be sued. Don’t believe everything that’s posted on a website. Some poor girl’s being called an ugly whore because of some irresponsible websites. And be careful - there is potential legal liability involved.

One news network was interviewing a bunch of her friends, who were all white. While that doesn’t prove anything, it suggests she might be white also.

Tuesday morning while watching one of those morning shows. The Early Show I believe. I don’t normaly watch those shows but that day I caught a bit of it. And yes, the anchor on the show, (her name escapes me) made a comment that race will become an issue because Kobe is black and the alleged victim was white.
Please remember, that because you havent’ heard something does not mean it wasn’t said. And before anyone starts getting defensive let me say that the reason I made the comment originally about the the dynamic race adds to investigations and trials is because it is true. Thanks to the media who feel it necessary to blast it into our faces every day. I personally could care less who was white black or fuscia.

On the Today show, they showed a photograph of her. Her face had been obscured. She’s white.

The name is correct, but the pictures are possibly false. From Reuters:

Everyone in the news business knows her name. If the reported name were false, they would say so. But instead they say her name HAS been posted. The pictures, though, have not been confirmed to be the alleged victim and are supposedly of somebody else.

What I heard was that the name was wrong as well, though the first name was similar to the real victim’s.

RIGHT ON!

Asked and answered as much as it can be in this forum.

Thank you.

I can see race being a factor here. Vail, CO is pretty close to entirely white (the figure I’ve seen is 85%), and whether it’s a real issue or not, it may well come up in the trial. I have no idea why we need to start the “blame the media for everything” game, since it’s easily something one could wonder independently.

Also, her name apparently has been correctly reported. There’s a Reuters story in the sports section of today’s NY Times that says sports talk show host Tom Leykis gave her name out on the radio yesterday and says he plans to continue doing so. (Basically, he’s ardently convinced the girl is a gold-digging liar.) Quoth he, “We’re told that rape is violence, not sex, and if that’s true there’s no reason she should feel shame or embarrassment,” he says. I think you could drive a Mack truck through the holes in that logic, but anyway, the name is apparently right since there’s nothing to indicate it’s wrong. They don’t give it themselves, however.
