Is lekatt a troll, or is he just that stupid?

That could be a cool post-New Age bestseller for the Info Age: SETH TROLLS!, the story of a web surfer who channels through blogs a particularly obnoxious spiritual entity.

And it actually raises a point I always wondered about channeling: even if they are conducting a spirit, how do we know that Seth or Ramtha or Chief Elk or whoever isn’t just a trolling horse’s ass from another dimension? There’s really not a peer review process for these guys; he could well be talking to the living one because their fellow dead head grab their car keys and run whenever he comes near.

That is just so wrong.

Word. It was wrong the first time, too.

lekatt is the worst thing to happen to Great Debates. It’s like trying to argue with a recording. He is the reason I don’t get involved anymore. He has wrecked dozens of threads with his idiotic drivel.

I think that what he does is not proselytizing, it’s deliberate thread shitting, and I would applaud if he was banned.

P.S. No offense, Sampiro. You’ll always be top shelf in the SDMB storytelling pantheon. Your gift for imagery just got me really squicked out when you related the Bloody Mary story that first time.

I guess one way to spin it is that you’ve got mad Gothic skillz, too!

The pathetic truth is, he has never been near death. He had a dream about a near death experience. That is the sole root of his bizarre religion.

I have argued before that Lekatt should be banned for willful ignorance. Our mission is to fight ignorance. His mission is to remain ignorant and spread ignorance.

Cmyk IMO He suffered only from a midlife crisis. He had given his life to printing, an industry that was rapidly becoming unrecognizable due to new technologies. He was looking at a wasted life. Then, he had a dream. He seized on this dream as proof not only that life continues after bodily death, but proof that his life could have meaning. He devoted his life to spreading the word. He can’t admit error now. That would mean admitting that his crusade has been a waste. So he ignores evidence and blinds himself to the truth in order to cling to his beliefs.

Ugh.

Maybe he thinks after enough posts in GD, the universe itself will have caved to his persistence out of sheer annoyance, and will grant him life-after-death.

Christ, I’ve had more near-death experiences than he has! (Do you know how many times I narrowly missed being hit by a car-my friends and I used to play chicken on the main drag when we were about twelve.)

All you need is love? Love? Love is all you need?

Who the hell is “Seth”, anyways? lekatt keeps talking about him, but the only Seth I can think of is my neurologist.
Another question: Does lekatt ever post about anything else-movie threads, or other subjects? Or is he only here to preach?

Even his own evidence. The soul knows the body is going to die and leaves? And he supports that by citing near death experiences? What, are those souls stupid?

Re Seth

Seth is reportedly an angelic being composed of millions of souls. A channeler contacted Seth (I forget if it was in the sixties or seventies), and Seth dictated a few books.

lekatt is an internet legend. He has been posting his view for a long time in many forums.

Well, see, souls tend to be panicky. The body starts to die, the soul says, “That’s it, I’m outta here!”, and then the body gets better and the soul sneaks back redfaced and saying, “Yeah, I just left to go get a beer. I was coming back all the time.” That’s my theory, anyway.

Seth=George Lucas?

If we are paying for the privledge of being on this board (and admittedly, I’m a noob here), not only should it run better than the free messageboards that I am a poster at (it doesn’t, possibly due to needing another server…it hangs a lot for me at random times for no apparent reason), it should also include an “ignore” feature that is so common to other messageboards.
I know that another poster quoting the ignored user in the thread will still show up, but it can be useful.
/2 cents

The “evidence” he points to only looks like brain degeneration to me, anyway. Take neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor’s experience as she suffered (if you can call it suffering by her account) a stroke to the left hemisphere of her brain at 37 years old. Feelings of oneness with the universe, seemingly outside your body, aware of your trillion or so constituent cells, seemingly fluid with your surroundings (read her book, very interesting).

No one can say conclusively whether there’s life after death, but if you take an honest assessment of all the information we have on the topic, it’s not looking good. The only thing we have to compare it to is what it was like before we were born, and if being dead is anything like that, well, the only thing we might have to fear is the transition.

I guess denial is much stronger than acceptance for some of us.

That really doesn’t sound bad at all. I suppose it’s all good to be that way as long as you don’t post on an internet messageboard with seeming authority, especially in a portion of one reserved for “debates of import” like GD is.

lekatt is more of a what.

Still, let him stay. As long as lekatt is here, no one may truly say that I am the most annoying git on the SDMB.
