I’m voting for TROLL. Yes I said it. Nobody, and I mean NoBody could possibly that consistently idiotic, nonsensical, and flat out ridiculous except on purpose.
That really doesn’t sound bad at all.

Right, in fact, she reveled in the experience. Felt euphoria, even. Wanted to diminish into it. But she knew it wasn’t normal and that she had no way to interact with the outside world in that condition. She knew it was life threatening. Plus all her memories weren’t accessible of who she was, and those she knew.
I suppose it’s all good to be that way as long as you don’t post on an internet messageboard with seeming authority, especially in a portion of one reserved for “debates of import” like GD is.
And that is the most annoying part of his behavior, is the authority and smugness in which he delivers his proselytizing. It’s okay to believe in anything you want, but don’t delude yourself that you have a firmer point of view than anyone else on NDEs, especially if you’ve never actually experienced one.

What about Tom Cruise? Michael Jackson?
If we are paying for the privledge of being on this board (and admittedly, I’m a noob here), not only should it run better than the free messageboards that I am a poster at (it doesn’t, possibly due to needing another server…it hangs a lot for me at random times for no apparent reason), it should also include an “ignore” feature that is so common to other messageboards.
I know that another poster quoting the ignored user in the thread will still show up, but it can be useful.
/2 cents
Last time I checked, the SDMB has an ignore feature. However, discussing who is on your ignore list or telling a poster you have ignored them is grounds for banning.
… it raises a point I always wondered about channeling: even if they are conducting a spirit, how do we know that Seth or Ramtha or Chief Elk or whoever isn’t just a trolling horse’s ass from another dimension?
Well, as you did ask, I must point out that a person with a genuine Gift, or a sincere belief in one, will warn others about just that. People who truly believe they contact beings outside of this … space-time continuum … are usually nervous about it and do not feel in control.
Ninety percent of the people alive are assholes; why should the dead be any different?
[/hijack]
One half-hearted defense of the poor guy from Omega Man?
No wildly entertaining eviscerations? (which wouldn’t hurt him any how…)
No appearance by the Pitee to defend his positions?
hmmm …
Well, in lekatt’s defense, he does look at things from another angle; that is a good thing. He takes issue with underlying assumptions.
Furthermore, I do not understand why anyone tries to engage him in debate. lekatt is not about logic and proof, but about belief and philosophy (in the generic sense). He’s is entitled to his opinions, and, having paid his coin, entitled to express them here.
I don’t understand why those who are so threatened by him can not simply ignore (or even Ignore) him.
I have argued before that Lekatt should be banned for willful ignorance. Our mission is to fight ignorance. His mission is to remain ignorant and spread ignorance.
Nah. We’re fighting ignorance. If lekatt ever posts anything that makes sense, we’ll know we’ve won.
And he’s definitely not a troll. He’s retired, I’m pretty sure, and fairly old. He is very consistent - he lacks the capacity to critically analyze anything he reads or writes. His opinion that he knows something about science is hilarious. But he is reasonably polite, tries to address other people’s points (if incoherently) and is a museum quality example of why so many Americans believe so many stupid things. I think Jane Roberts’ books sold very well, which is very scary.

I’m guilty of that. I truly enjoy finding logical holes in what people write. That’s why I get involved in religion debates. Lekatt to logical fallacies is like Thomas Edison to inventions. He’s a genius at creating them.

Leroy Kattein, an equal opportunity moonbat since at least Christmas Day, 1995.
J666 I don’t feel threatened by him. He’s just very annoying.
Voyager IIRC He’s spoken of working at hospitals and hospices. Whether this is full or part time, I don’t know.
From what I’ve seen from lekatt and his postings around here, he seems to have suffered, or gone through, some life altering event, and distorting his philosophy on the afterlife so much so, that he seems to be building some crazy Jenga tower of delusions to try and shadow the fear he has of death, and the transition leading up to it.
This provides a possible angle of approach for driving away his unwanted stupidities.
Perhaps, every time he shows up, he should be greeted with a consistent “message wall” from all participants.
*LeRoy, you know, of course, that one day, you are going to die.
You will die.
Death will claim you. Your life will end. You’re going to die.
Nobody wishes this to happen. It is simply inevitable that you, like all the rest of us, will die.
You can believe what you like about what happens at this point. You can even claim there is evidence to back up your beliefs.
That evidence, however, does not really exist. It’s obvious to all of us that you’re propping up your stories, and trying to pretend they meet the standard of objective evidence, because you’re so terrified at the prospect of death. That’s really very sad. Because it’s irrelevant how afraid you are of dying: ultimately, you will die.
Maybe you’re right in your beliefs. Maybe you’re wrong. Doesn’t matter.
What does matter is what can’t be argued: you’re going to die.*
Maybe enough of that would cause him to blow a circuit and flee.

Really? I’ve missed that. I didn’t know lekatt proposed logical arguments. I thought s/he only rejected underlying assumptions.
But, then, I don’t pay a lot of attention because posts that reject underlying assumptions do tend to be off-topic. I wish s/he were better at challenging assumptions.
[It never crossed my mind lekatt could be over 25 yo.]
Just do a Google search for “lekatt”. This shit is spread across dozens of boards on the Internet.
Is it just me or does the spinning diamond remind anybody else of Leviathan from Hellraiser?

Really? I don’t readily see a button for it. And why would that be cause for banning?
If you truly cannot get along with another member, then “ignoring” should be encouraged.

I just looked her up on Wiki-she found ‘Seth’ on a frickin’ ouija board?!?! Christ, I only ever used those things as a fun party game.
That’s really, REALLY scary. (That people are so freaking stupid, not that ouijas are scary themselves)
(Oh, and again-does he ever post about ANYTHING else?)
Doc, I think that diamond must be a PSP tube or something.
Click on the poster’s name (right there in the upper left corner of their post). You will be taken to a screen with their public profile. This screen has the options ‘add user to your buddy list’ and ‘add user to your ignore list’.

Uh oh. They’re everywhere. Just like pod people only far far FAR more annoying.

Despite all Lekatt’s annoying quirks, I admit I enjoyed his participation in a recent thread where kanicbird ended up stating that Lekatt spewed “lies from the pit of hell” and that kanicbird rebuked and came “against that enemy and spirit of the antichrist that dwells within” lekatt.
That’s the closest I’ve ever been to a real exorcism attempt!
I was exorcised, but only once.
I have fun imagining him as French. Le Katt. Hehe.

That’s good stuff, thanks for bringing that to my attention. That’s such good dogma on dogma action, Michael Vick could bet on it.
