Is Michael Brown, the current FEMA Director qualified for his position?

Here’s his resume.

Michael D. Brown -
Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness and Response

Looks (to me) lot more like political plum than a merit and experience based appointment. Am i being unfair in that opinion?

No. I’d be surprised to hear anyone say otherwise.

He’s as well-qualified as his predecessor.

No. He’s wasn’t qualified when he was hired and obviously hasn’t learned anything on the job.

Over on a UK message board I wrote this in answer to the question of whether Brown would get dismissed over his handling of the situation :-

With all that experience that ‘Mikey’ has had with horses he could always go back to that line of work. I’m sure that there are many vacancies where horse-s** shovellers are needed.*

Somebody came back with this :-

I bet good money he’d manage to fck that one up too…

“No, sir, I didn’t find that pile of manure till Thursday. I’ve heard no reports that the manure stinks. Now it’s not the time to blame the horses …”*
