From CNN: Brown Puts Blame on Louisiana Officials. Michael Brown has been testifying in front of a congressional committee, and still can’t admit to how he fucked up. Here’s a good one:
If I didn’t know better I would say he was playing the blame game.
I wonder if he was doing a damn good job when he was asked to resign as a horse show administrator?
Those Louisiana officials cooked his resume, too!
It’s hard work being a consultant to the agency you used to head. It’s really, really hard work.
Especially when you’re helping them figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. A guy could sprain his finger with all the pointing.
Controversial or not it’s beginning to look like Brown was more right than wrong with respect to pointing out that the majority of the failures that led to the crisis occurred in dysfunctional and unprepared local and regional coordination and evacuation efforts.
I tend to find that people who go around saying “I think I do a good job” typically aren’t doing all that great of a jub and just need to convince themselves more than anyone.
…really, I have a girlfriend. She’s super hot but goes to college in Canada.
Oh, c’mon. There’s no way that’s going to fly - of course there were FUs at each level, but Brown’s insistence that FEMA’s job was “coordinating” and then not being able to give an accurate description of what he did that could be considered “coordinating” kind of blows that theory ouot the window.
Chairman: “Were you given all the resources you needed?” (by other govermental agencies)
Brown: “Yes, I was.”
Then the chairman pulls into the whole “if you were given what you needed, then why couldn’t you get the job done” thing…
Brown was an incompetent. It in no way erases that there were other problems, but the fact that he was incompetent, unprepared, not fit for his job, and now blames everyone else under the sun/rain/the levee is pathetic and insulting to the thousand who lost their lives.
With respect,
Inky.
Maybe he makes a mean margarita.
Apparently, now is the time for finger-pointing.
Seriously, though. From what I have seen, all levels of government – local, state and federal – screwed up by the numbers on this one. For Brown (or anyone) to be consulting on whether or not he himself did a good job would be laughable if it weren’t so contemptible.
You know, I would really like to be able to quit my job in disgrace and yet remain in the payroll…
Keep in mind you and I are still paying for this guy’s salary. And if this had been a democratic administration, the howls from the right wing media would never end.
Maybe Brownie should take note that there were more folks than those in LA and NO that complained about the slow fed response. Due to the lesser population density of those areas, the complaints are getting drowned out by thie bigger neighbors, but the complaints were certainly there. (The classic ‘Fuck you Mr. Cheney’ happened in Mississippi). And mayor Nagin, made out to be the boogie man, was not in charge of the devestated parishes around NO and Pontchartrain.
I disagree, but even if I were to concede the point, his job wasn’t to identify problems, his job was to solve them. Identifying problems is what advisors do. Solving problems is what leaders do. Brownie is no leader.
You really know how to hurt a guy.
How the fuck is he a FEMA consultant now? Seriously, who’s head needs to go on a pike to cut this bullshit out? I’m beside myself with rage that this asshole is still employed in any capacity. Who appointed him consultant?
Tell me about it.
Guess what my IRL name is. Go on. Guess.

You really have to ask? :dubious:
Does the guy have something on Bush we’re not aware of? I don’t see why they won’t cut him loose. I find it disturbing that Bush is so loyal to his people.
Hmmmmm…
Well, we still don’t know What is it with Bush Administrations and gay prostitution?
