Is Mick Jagger known for his moves?

Yes, this question is inspired by the recent pop song.

I’ve never been a Rolling Stones fan, so I really don’t know if He With The Gigantic Lips is known for being a suave dancer or whatever. Is having “moves like Jagger” really all that great?

He’s considered one of the great rock frontman. Any “moves” he has he copped from Tina Turner and some of the women from Motown he met on early tours. I remember seeing an interview with TT where she joked about how he didn’t have moves and she had to take him aside and teach him basic then-popular dances like The Pony…

Is Carter known for his Little Liver Pills?

This video shows the opinion of a pop music reviewer whom I respect. In short, no, and the stupidity of the lyrics disappoint him.

And I so wanted to post about this in the other Jagger thread, but I couldn’t make it fit. So thanks, OP.

Good? What does “good” have to do with it? Jagger moves like Jagger, just like Elvis moved like Elvis and Cocker moves like Cocker… and I’d rather watch any of them than some pansy “dancer”. Rockers don’t dance - they let their music move them. It ain’t supposed to be pretty.

I don’t think there’s a contention that Jagger is a good dancer; but the way he moves on stage is certainly distinctive. I’d guess that’s what the song’s getting at?

Alternatively (and I don’t know any of the song’s lyrics other than the words “moves like Jagger”) it’s not referring to his dancing, but to his sexual prowess? Or something? Does the song make it clear it’s referring to dance moves?

I assumed it was both…

The second verse of this video:

(The song was adapted from actual quotations which I’m sure can be easily googled.)

It’s not so much a dance as a strut, and yeah. He’s known for it.

Michael Hutchence was pretty good at it, too.

Richard Belzer perfectly captured all of Jagger’s moves.

Basically, a very self-confident rooster.

Yep, he’s known for his moves.

The Mighty Boosh - “What would Mick Jagger do?”

I saw him in concert once about 20 years ago; he would’ve been in his early 50s. His moves were pretty impressive. He had all these ramps that let him run up over the front ten rows and stuff. My hat was (and remains) off to him.

Jagger is uninhibited. That’s very appealing.

He’s got moves like a stroke victim stepping on a tack. Unduplicatable. Entertaining as hell.

If you are not into the music and view Jagger’s antics dispassionately, it would be easy to reach the conclusion that he’s an effeminate buffoon. If you like the music, his strutting and mugging add to the fun.

THAT is one of the funniest descriptions of Mister Mick I have ever read.
Thank you for the laugh!

I always called it the Jagger chicken strut, but stroke victim stepping on tacks works pretty well, too. Anyway, yeah his moves are well known, but they’re not why he’s famous.

This was a great bit from Mick Jagger’s appearance on “SNL.”

“I’m pointin’ mah fingah, pointin’ mah fingah, pointin’ mah fingah at CHOOOOOOO…”

I just watched the 1972 documentary “Marjoe,” and he had lifted some moves from Mick. It looks really, really bad. He does the bent-over, fist-on-hip thing. Sorta bizarre. But apparently Marjoe felt that he had a lot more star potential than he actually did.
