Is my iPhone 7 haunted?

I’ve had it for a couple of months now. On at least 4 occasions it’s called people in my Contacts without me even touching it. And at least 4 times it started playing music on its own. I could almost understand it if it was something I was listening to, and had paused. But no, it plays random tunes. Yesterday it started playing Pandora, on a station I haven’t listened to for a while. The last weird thing it did was turn the flashlight on unbidden. It’s a good thing I caught that or my battery would have been toast. This is my first iPhone, so I don’t know if this shit is common.

Where to you carry it? I carry my phone, it’s not an iPhone, in my shirt pocket and it does some strange things. I think it may be caused by static.

Has it called Ghostbusters yet?

Do you keep it in your back pocket? It might be butt-dialing.

Most of the time it was just sitting next to me. AFA butt dialing- the phone has to first be opened by pressing the home button with a preapproved finger.

Talk about sentences that sound dirty but aren’t.

If it starts texting people, it’s probably haunted.

Maybe Siri’s upset about something. No use asking what it is. If you really care about the relationship, you should know what’s upsetting her.

Does this only happen after the phone has already been unlocked or is it unlocking itself too? Did you ever get it wet? The iPhone 7 is water resistant, but maybe a little bit got in at some point because water ingress could explain the symptoms you’re describing.

If you use a screen protector or a case, you should remove them and see if that helps.

Also, if it only happens when it’s charging, you might want to get a new charger. If that is indeed the problem, make sure to get an Apple certified charger.

If none of that helps, I’d do a full restore if you haven’t already (make sure to backup first). If no joy, make an appointment at an Apple Store, explain the problem and all the steps you’ve taken. They are usually pretty good about keeping customers satisfied.
