Maybe the entire search feature is as well, but I rarely use that. I use the New Posts button a lot. Lately it seems like half the time I hit it I get the Please Try Again Later message. Thing is, every time I’ve gotten the message I know I’ve been in the previous thread for a few minutes AND I know I didn’t double click the button because the time until the next search is usually around 115 seconds.
Is this happening to anyone else?
My suggestion. Get rid of the restriction. I see no good reason for it anymore. I know it was put on there so we didn’t set the servers on fire or something, but I’m nearly positive that A)we’re not even using those servers anymore B)the board was crashing nearly constantly when that restriction was put in place. For those of you not around, it was common for people to pull up 5 or 10 different threads and hope for the best, then refresh the ones that didn’t load and maybe 10 minutes later they’d have a few threads to read. And replying, well, hope you had some kind of good luck ritual and a sacrifice for the hamsters. It’s not like that anymore and I sincerely doubt it’s because of the two minute restriction on the search function C)I don’t feel like trying to find it, but I’d really thought that we had some people searching over and over and over and over attempting to crash the boards (or maybe not attempting to, but it was happening). And that was another reason why the five minute restriction went into place. Does anyone else recall that? I don’t think I’m making up, but I’m not even sure where to start to look for it to see if I remembering it correctly. Also, IIRC they were searching for three letter words to pull back even more results.
Either way, search function is broken again, I doubt the restriction is needed anymore, it’s time to get rid of it.
