Is Nirvana's "You Know You're Right" available as a CD single?

Cuz I just can’t justify putting money in Courtney Love’s pocket for a CD full of songs I already have.

Then justify it by putting money in Krist and Dave’s pockets. It’s a good song.

Putting money in Courtney’s pocket would cause her … PAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAINN!! PAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAINN!! PAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-AAAINN!!

I heard part of it last night on NPR. It IS a good song, I’m thinking of getting the CD. I wasn’t aware that I was supposed to be boycotting Courtney Love. Oh well.

What freaked me out was that the NPR people were talking about how this album might introduce Nirvana to a new generation of people that had never heard them.

24 is too young to feel like an old fogey.

First to answer your question: There is not a commercially available single one can purchase in a store. There is however a one track radio promo you can find online for about $10 if you look hard enough. I would suggest Gemm.com or eBay for the least expensive used copies.

Keep in mind, however, that the actual album isn’t comletely just a bunch of old songs slapped onto a disc. They are all remastered and sound far superior to the originals, Pennyroyal Tea is a different mix available only on the Mobile Fidelity 24k gold CD and the Wal-Mart edition with edited artwork, and Been A Son is a version available only on the very hard to find Blew EP and has a bass solo by Krist as opposed to Kurt’s guitar solo on the Incesticide version.

Granted, I don’t think Courtney deserves any of the money, but Frances should be entitled to some. Krist and Dave should be splitting 2/3 of the profits, unfortunately I think they’re still only getting 25% which isn’t very fair.

Good news though: They all signed a contract agreeing that within two years of this compilation’s release there would also be a rarities CD AND the long long long anticipated Box Set! The new compilation was released more or less to psych fans (not that they need psyching), and introduce the band to perhaps some new and younger ears. Most of all they knew we all wanted to hear You Know Your Right and just wanted to release it for us until they can put together the collection of stuff we don’t know exists.

My hobby is collecting rare Nirvana recordings, so if you have any more questions or just want to talk feel free to IM me @ AaronCloudwalker or [EMAIL=aaron@tridity.org]e-mail me.

Thanks everyone, especially TridCloudwalker.

I guess I’ll just pick up the CD then. (Disappointed Love Buzz isn’t on it, tho’) :frowning:

has every song on the album been remastered?

Yup, though the quality change is really only noticable on a good stereo system. Unless you’re specifically trying to listen to the sound change and have an original album to play at the same time for referance, the better sound is mostly subliminal. Regardless though, it does sound better.

Naaw, the new compilation was released cuz Love wanted the cash. Grohl and Novoselic were only interested in the box set and rarities.

As always the Onion scores a direct hit. See bullet point number 10.

HAH! Just as I suspected, elf6c!

More importantly, what the hell is 6th base???

I’m almost positive that I read somewhere that it was released as a 7", as with most punk and alt-rock singles. I really can’t imagine that it WOULDN’T be released as a 7" considering that all Nirvanas other singles were as well as the fact that Courteny Dave and Krist are all vinyl junkies.

Just to be anal…IMHO Nirvana was way over rated. They were good, but they didn’t do anything that hasn’t been done by ten thousand other bands before. They just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and it didn’t hurt that Cobain had those looks that teenage jailbait can’t resist.

<mmmm…teenage jailbait arglharglharglh> :stuck_out_tongue:
