Nollywood=cute nickname for the Nigerian movie industry riffing on Bollywood.
We borrowed a bunch of pirated DVDs from my wife’s aunt who is apparently a fan, so we had a binge on them for awhile.
Every single movie was a sort of family soap opera, most plots are about psycho gold diggers who once married into the family start trying to off anyone standing in the way of them inheriting the family house. We kept watching just to MST3K them, also they are not shy about about showing domestic violence which we actually liked as it made it feel real and not filtered. But yea I hate soap operas and family drama.
Most of the movies were preceeded by trailers and one showed a film about obeah or voodoo where people were getting turned into animals and such, looked cool but it was not among the collection.
Any Nigerian sci fi? Were the movies typical?
