Is parapsychology ever considered a real scientific discipline?

Many horror movies, especially supernatural horror films from the 1970s, feature characters who identify themselves as “parapsychologists” or professors of parapsychology?

Is parapsychology considered a real discipline? Are there departments of parapsychology at universities? And what does parapsychology have to do with psychology?

Are there departments of parapsychology at universities? /QUOTE]Usually, the study is done in the psych department

Parapsychology is the study of supernatural phenomenon. Read as ghosts, phycics, ectoplasm, and all the asorted hogwash. Given the subject matter, parapsychology is not considered a real discipline by most people. You can find schools that teach it the same way you can find schools on spoon bending. Parapsychology has little to do with actual psychology unless the investigator is studying how people can convince themselves to believe in stupid bullshit.
