Is software different in the UK?

My husband went shopping yesterday, and brought home a magazine that he found at Frye’s Electronics. Its Mac Format. Its set up a bit like Mac Addict. It had 2 CD’s taped to it. There’s a sticker on the front that says “Printed in England” The prices quoted are in £’s
One of them has Bryce 4 a design program. I was so excited. Its the full version of 4 with coupon for an up grade to 5.
I read the read me’s; I jumped through all the hoops the asked me to.
So I start to download, and get only as far as the license screen. The “accept” button is grayed out. Now what?
Another application from the other disk seemed to be doing fine, except when I tried to eject the disk it wouldn’t until I threw that application away (it was MidiKeys)
So is the software somehow territorial?

I don’t know if this belongs in MPSIMS as much as GQ…

Regardless, as far as I know software is software, so your problem should have no relation to your geographic location. My guess is you need to scroll through the long text that is the EULA (End User License Agreement), and after the software registers you’ve scrolled all the way to the bottom - then the button should become active.

Actually, I bailed out of here and tried it again. It worked like it wanted to call me a liar.

Different licence agreements may apply in the US from the UK. Or the author may have signed exclusive publication rights with a different company. Or …
