Is Tapatalk broken?

The last few days I can’t log in to the board with Tapatalk. If I try to browse the various forums, they appear empty. Has SDMB discontinued its support of Tapatalk? Anyone else having problems?

I just tried it on my tablet and couldn’t connect.

As far as I’m aware, nothing has changed on the SDMB side of things. Looks like it’s a tapatalk problem.

Just a data point: I’m posting this with tapatalk and had no recent problems logging in.

I had the problem for some time a while back—deleting the app cache (and maybe also the app data) solved it.

I’ve not had any troubles all day.

That worked! Thanks!

For future reference, how does one do this?

I frequently have problems with SDMB forums not loading in Tapatalk. Sometimes if I back out all the way to the front, where I can select the Straight Dope forum again and get back in, I’m good. Sometimes I have to log out of the Straight Dope and log back in and that fixes it. Although sometimes when I do the log out / log back in thing, it will keep making me log in the next three or four times until it finally “remembers” me again.

There have been a few times I’ve force stopped the app and cleared the cache, but it’s rare.

Sometimes an app will update, and the update borks another feature of the app. Last week. Tapatalk updated on my phone (I have it set to auto-update), and it took away the ability to choose the categories that I wanted displayed when I open it. When this was brought to their attention, I assume, Tapatalk patched it with another update, so everything’s back to normal now.

But yes, as others have indicated, in general when I have a Tapatalk issue, I just delete the app’s cache and force stop the app. This usually takes care of any problems.

Sorry, missed this earlier. It differs a little from phone to phone; on an Android phone, you’ll have to locate the app manager somewhere under settings. There, you can tap on an app, and go to ‘memory’ (or something similar; I’m translating from German). This is where you’ll have the option to wipe cache and/or data. I’d suggest first trying to wipe the cache, as wiping the data will basically reset the app to a blank state, loosing all custom settings, log-ins etc.

My two cents:

For the last week or so, when I get an email notify of a new post on a thread I’m subscribed into, when I click the hyperlink, Tapatalk tries to load…and tries…and tries… to no avail. On my cell AND new iPad.

If I open the App, as I just did, it opens perfectly and I can navigate.

I’ll try clearing the cache within the Apps manager on my phone. Not sure how to do that on the iPad…
