Is the Democratic Party "anti-God", and what can they do to stop that stereotype?

Is a colonel with 27 years of service, who served with distinction in Afghanistan, good enough for you?

And what’s more American than believing in God, right?

The Muslims I know do pretty much the same thing most of us do to make America a better place: work, take care of their families, try and raise their kids right, participate in society. What more do you want?

This is one of the most uninformed statements I have seen made on these boards in a long long time. The only thing that might rival it is what you have posted about gay people.

So in your world Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are leeches, losers, parasites and people who want to suck the country dry? How about Penn Jillette, Richard Dawkins, Bill Nye, Dave Matthews, Phil Donahue, Billy Joel, James Randi, Ron Reagan, Clarence Darrow, Jesse Ventura, Andrew Carnegie and Mark Zuckerberg? Because every single one of these very accomplished and successful individuals are/were atheists.

Atheists are some of the most ethical, compassionate, giving people you are likely to encounter. Certainly more so than many of the people who loudly proclaim their religious beliefs while using those beliefs to discriminate and put down those who disagree with them.

I would suggest you educate yourself on a subject before slandering an entire group of people in the future.

Well, given the bible’s attitude towards such things - “Thinking they were wise, they became fools”; “The lord will provide”; etc. The values of the Christian Bible are values of “The world is about to end and God will help you, so stay meek and stupid”, not “I have to take care of myself, work hard, and learn about the world”.

As an atheist, I feel the need to point out that the fact some idiots hold a fucking ridiculous stereotype does not justify believing that ridiculous stereotype.

In fact, I feel absolutely justified in saying that anyone who believes that stereotype is a big part of the problem with this country. I’m sure glad you couched this in terms of “they believe X”, because whoever “they” are, they’re huge jerks.

For them to stop supporting terrorism. Period.

When did they start?

As far as I can tell, none of them do. It’s never even crossed my mind that any of them might. None of them have ever said or done anything that in any way, shape, or form indicates that they support terrorism. Good enough?

You don’t see Christians hijacking into towers. That’s one.

No, we just see them blowing up Federal buildings and killing hundreds of people including young children.

I’ll add that this is one of the most amazing examples of thread drift I’ve ever seen. We started out with the opinion that the Democratic Party is anti-God, and by nice easy steps have got to the opinion that Muslims do not better America.

Wait, I thought we were talking about Americans.

I don’t see most Muslims doing that either.

9/11? C’mon. Don’t deny things.

19 Muslims committed an evil act on 9/11.

There are about 1.6 billion Muslims in the world.

That means that about 1,599,999,981 Muslims did not “hijack into towers” that day.

Furthermore, out of the approximately 3 million Muslim Americans living in the country at the time, zero of them “hijacked into towers” that day.

Is English your first language?

You’re having a very hard time following what people say. I wonder if that’s because you’re struggling with the language or if you’re being willfully obtuse, or the third option.

Enh. It’s all just run of the mill bigotry. Not that big a step really.

What will you say next time your friends denigrate atheists who serve?

Yes, it is. Let’s not do that.

Why are they in the U.S. then? Why? Why don’t they stand up to radical Jihadists?

I’m not obtuse, by the way.
