Is the Democratic Party "anti-God", and what can they do to stop that stereotype?

Not only that, but Daesh and al Qaida have killed far more Muslims than they have any other religious group.

I am worried that Republicans have owned the “God vote”. Why have they? Why?

That said:

What’s wrong with attracting evangelicals who might have common ground with Democrats on socioeconomic issues to the party? Obviously the party shouldn’t pander-the evangelicals aren’t stupid and they aren’t going to vote for fake triangulating socons when they can vote for the real thing-but there’s no reason why the Democrats should make it clear individual politicians should vote their conscience on say abortion and not fret over scrubbing away every mention of God even while portraying Republicans as ruled by hedonist, godless plutocrats.

I don’t think they are bigots. One of them had a black girlfriend and almost got pregnant with her in 1988.

“I fuck negresses therefore I’m not racist”-Strom Thurmond

There are plenty of different types of bigotry. It’s entirely consistent with some forms of bigotry to have sex with different races. I’ve known folks who thought most black people were dangerous and stupid, but a select few were somehow worthy and decent and they could be friends (or more). They’re still bigots, even though they have black friends (or significant others).

How can you almost get pregnant?

You should have been worrying about that in the 1970s when the so-called “Moral Majority” began organizing to take control of the Republican Party, driving out moderates and adding a theocratic tinge to all party platforms. Your failure to oppose that movement is much worse than the imaginary claims that American Muslims do not oppose Jihadists.

And how will this friend deal with his black girlfriend if she has a gay sibling?

See, you’ve mentioned things like LGBT rights being forced upon people, Muslims who should be fighting against jihadis but don’t, some Americans don’t want to hear these people and sometimes these people snap, IOW, become violent.

How can the cause of all these things not be based in bigotry?

You should stop supporting terrorists.

From the way you describe them, your friends are close-minded bigots.

Well, there’s sort of pregnant, there’s mostly pregnant, and there’s all pregnant.

Let’s just say, he was in love with her. He wanted her. She almost was pregnant.

GloryDays, you have a very bad and very annoying habit of asking questions and then completely ignoring the answers, and deflecting when someone asks you a question instead of answering the question directly.

Earlier in this thread, you asked “name one product or thing in the U.S. that Muslims have created or done to make America a better place.” Someone answered this question. You ignored it. You then asked “Name one Muslim celebrity or singer that changed America. Name one thing.” Instead of one Muslim celebrity, someone named a few." Again, you ignored it.

**John Mace **asked you: “Are you posting your beliefs or those of your “friends”?” You responded "My friends are in pain. It’s turning violent as well for them. They love America, but they want changes. Fast. John Mace then stated “You didn’t answer my question. Does the post you made that I just quoted reflect your own views or those of your “friends”?” You, once again responded thusly: “I am worried that Republicans have owned the “God vote”. Why have they? Why?”, which again does not answer the question you were asked. Let me ask you a simple question to see if you can answer it: Why do you do this? Why can’t you answer the question that was asked?

If it were just in this thread that you practiced this evasive technique I’d probably let it pass, but you’ve done this in other threads, typically political ones. You already have a reputation around here of being a mouthpiece for your “friends” in Queens and Staten Island, and then when pressed on what you believe, responding with “it’s not me who believes this, it’s my friends”. You’re the one who is a member of this board. We want to know what YOU believe? **NO ONE CARES **what your bigoted friends in Staten Island think or want. Can you understand this?

When you ask “Does that mean wiping God out of the U.S. system? Is that what you want?”, by ‘the US system’ I presume you mean politics or the US political process. If that is what you mean, then yes, your god should have no part in it.

When you ask “You want a Godless country, that’s what you want?” my response is yes, absolutely. Many Americans don’t believe in your god. This being the case, why should your belief be incorporated in US politics.

Also, values, hard work, going to school, having an education, building on society, and believing in marriage and what it comes with it have absolutely nothing to do with your god. I don’t know why you think they do. Evangelicals are typically proponents of home-schooling, not going to school. They’re also fans of indoctrination, not education. As far as marriage is concerned, sure evangelicals are for marriage, but only for certain people. Why should atheists embrace a bigoted perspective on marriage or anything else for that matter?

You say: “You don’t force LGBT rights on people, either. They haven’t done anything to build America up. You have to have balance.” Are you kidding me? Are you seriously saying no one with an LGB or T gender orientation has contributed to the betterment of this country? I could list over 100 names and their accomplishments that would contradict your assertion, but why waste my time when you will just ignore it. You are so wrong it is laughable.

For some reason you put way too much stock in the ramblings of racists and bigots. Good luck to you on this board with that type of myopia.

I won’t bother addressing any of the other nonsense you have spouted in this thread. You are obviously not nearly as knowledgable on this topic as you believe you are, but I will leave you with this: don’t ask the questions if you don’t want the answers.

To answer the OP’s vague question, for me, the Democrats rarely mention their faith unless asked. The GOP always starts with at least 5 of the candidates saying “God told me to run for president.”

Thus, the Dems seem more pro-human, pro-society, not anti-god. The whole point of religion here is you can CHOOSE a faith and follow it at you see fit. I don’t see many democrats saying X religion is evil. But we see it all the time from the GOP.

Another thing the GOP does is try to bring laws that discriminate against groups. (Look at Oklahoma’s recent laws on the table.) They use and hide behind their religion for making these laws, thus again, this is why we refer to the GOP as God’s Own Party so often.

Sadly lacking in detail.
Did he engage in pre-marital sex and only remembered the condom at the last second?
Was he having an affair and only remembered the condom at the last second?
Or is almost pregnant a euphemism for abortion?

Because in general, they don’t have common ground. Abortion is perhaps the least of the differences. In general, evangelical Christians are politically conservative, and oppose gay rights and social welfare and support a Christian (as defined by their beliefs–Christians who are liberal are not true Christians–they’re probably Episcopalians, or, God forbid, even Catholics) government. They’re Republicans, they’re tea party, they’re supporters of Christian sharia law. They’re such as GloryDays.

Why in the world would I want my party to attract such as them? I oppose them.

The problem with evangelicals is that absolutely nothing they want is ever going to happen. You can either lie to them like the GOP or ignore them.

You might be right.

Dude, I am an **independent. **I am not a Republican. I just don’t like people mocking, disparaging, dehumanizing God, like Bernie Sanders and Bill Maher do, and I hope you don’t do it either.
