Remembrance of Things Past, À la recherche du temps perdu, is not a memoir but rather a work of fiction, right? So, is the narrator

• the author, Marcel Proust (á la Kinsella in Shoeless Joe)?
• an unnamed fictional character?
• a fictional character who happens to be named Marcel Proust but otherwise bears no relationship to the author?
