I am as picky and pedantic a poster as anyone here …
(SDMB nerd: Oh no you’re not! Having analysed 23% of your posts, you’re not even close to the following 8 posters …)
… and spend my money wisely (although I did accidently buy a copy of CSI Miami which was region 1 only and I live in the UK … but I digress) …
… and this is the only website I pay for. 
Given this is run by a small newspaper business, I think it’s especially excellent value for money. 
It would be interesting to hear how the money is spent, but the Reader certainly doesn’t have to tell me and it would provoke endless posts. Endless picky and pedantic posts. Oh yes. :rolleyes:
I do not believe the Reader promised me anything when I paid my subscription, apart from continuing to run the SDMB.
Finally I can only echo the words of C K Dexter Haven:
