Basically, I want to write more music that isn’t classical, and it’s proving to be hard. I have a difficult time parsing out the rhythm from pop songs I hear, and rhythmic dictation was never a strong suit.
I know I’ve seen cheat sheets before that show chord progressions for certain genres of music, is there anything like that for drums? “If EDM, use this pattern, if heavy metal, do this?” Something that at least points me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
