- They seem to be everywhere else, though. In the last year, three local golf-only stores have sprung up, two in the last six months. All they sell is golf-playing stuff. I am stunned. I’ve never seen any baseball-only stores, or football-only stores, or basketball-only stores, -or any one-sport-only stores at all before. I don’t play golf myself, but there are a few local courses and I don’t notice them any more crowded than usual (well, they’re empty and rather frosty now, but when it was still warm…). This also coincides with the local cable TV system’s addition of the Golf Channel to the lineup.
~ - Is this part of the new world order plan? Is it linked to military action by the Bush administration? Are there golf-only sporting goods stores in your area? Are there any one-sport-only stores at all in your area? Has there been some huge surge in golf interest I haven’t noticed? - DougC
Tiger Woods.
But I like the idea of adding Flight 19 and Marie Celeste Team Matches to the PGA tour.
How much crap do you really need for Basketball or baseball? not much really so a general sports store has all of the stuff you’ll need. For golf though there’s all sorts of stuff you need with tons of different brands. You’ve got clubs and balls, shoes, bags, gloves. Plus they sell clothes. Yes golf shirts and pants are much lighter usually than normal stuff. Actually I normally wear golf shirts year round.
I know of 3-4 in a 30 mile radius around me, all of which have been there for years. I don’t think Woods has a whole lot of effect, at least not in THAT many stores opening up. I haven’t seen any new stores open up around me.
As for other sports though there are shops for them you just either don’t see them or they are in smaller shops out of the way. I know of a few bowling only shops, all in alleys, and at least one swimming shop.
