The one minute is the original, but I seem to remember there being a cover that Joss liked with a female singer where she used those lyrics as the chorus of the song and added more.

This is a much more polished version than what is in the YouTube video (same artist)

I dunno, that just doesn’t sound very good to me. I like the original version much better, it seems to have more longing and feeling in it. This version seems to have none of that.

I had never run across Mal’s Song. While it is a very pretty song, I think to really get the feeling of the original across it needs a deep male voice like that of Sonny Rhodes. Still, nice find.

This isn’t the theme, but it is inspired by Serenity. In The Black by Marian Call The entire CD it is from is songs inspired by BSG and Serenity. I really like “It’s Good To Have Jayne On Your Side.”

I’ve never understood the contempt for this song.

It gives me goosebumps whenever it comes up on the iPod.
