Well, it kinda makes me want to drive knitting needles into my ears. Does anyone actually like it?
Why am I so afraid to post here?
So here it goes. Yeah I like it. Reminds me of a cross between Brian Adams and John Melancamp. When I listen to it it kinda feels like I’m waking up but still just a little bit dreamy and puts me in the perfect mood for this fantasy life that I enjoy watching. I also like the clips they show in the background. I wish they’d show more.
:dives in the foxhole:
I’m lukewarm on the theme song - I really don’t care either way.
I do, however, like the video montage that accompanies it.
Yeah, the montage is top-notch, although a little bit out of sequence…they’ve got a one-man sub invented in the '80s before the Bell X-1, and the shuttle “Enterprise” rolling out before the moon landing…but all in all it’s pretty damn cool, and any sci-fi show that features Chuck Yeager in the opening credits is ok in my book. But I dislike the song.
I usually just tune it out (no, it’s really a coffee commercial, not a Star Trek theme…) and watch the neato pictures.
I agree with you 100 percent about the theme song, bagkitty. Everytime I hear it, I just want to bang my head against the wall! Most people I’ve discussed this with agree that it’s like nails on a chalkboard. I do love the opening sequence though.

One curious thing about the opening that I’ve noticed is that just before the Enterprise ship snip-it, there is a snip-it of another ship passing on top of a planet. Could this be the Valient, supposedly lost in 2065?

I’m also a member of the mute-button club during the theme.
hijak response: Maybe it’s VEGR or whatever that ship from the first ST movie was…???
I hated it the first time a heard it, and also the second time (later that night – yay for TiVo!), but by the third it started to grow on me. Now I’ve begun to like it.

Nice graphics. Go back to the traditional ST instrumentals. Even STV has a nice theme. A few words from someone? OK. Maybe even a sound clip of Armstrong from '69?
No, V’GER was the late twentieth-century NASA probe ‘Voyager 6’, after alterations by some sentient machines on a far-off planet.
The vessel could be the Valiant, perhaps, but I’m not sure of the time scale of the Valiant mission. I think Valiantwas supposed to come after NX-01, by the reference in the TOS episode (“Where No Man…”, I think).
Man, I must be getting old… I should have remembered that.
I think it sucks! I think the whole show blows!
Out of all of the Star Trek spinoffs, this one has a theme song not even close to the others, unpleasant, boring and about as insipid as the show itself!
The uniforms blow also. They remind me of those old 1950s – 1960s B&W grade B science fiction movies where the actors all wore semi-military coveralls.
The captain stinks.
The first officer stinks.
The whole show must have been written and produced by someone who is barely familiar with Roddenberrys’ works.
I’m going have to look this up in my ST Encyclopedia (my madness is finally revealed!!). I seem to remember mention that it was lost in 2065.

Come on J248974. Why hold back.
I’m not going to run out to buy the CD of the opening song, but I don’t thinks it’s bad. I do think it is out-of-line with the rest of the Star Trek universe with their orchestrated themes. Like slortar said, it sounds more like a TV commercial theme.
Are you guys talking about the ship that looks like a NASA rocket with extending warp nacelles? I thought that was the ship Zephram Cochrane flew at the end of First Contact.

What I’m referring to is the snip-it that appears right after Cochrane’s ship. Its lasts for about 2 or 3 seconds and then segueways(sp?) to the Enterprise snip-it. It shows a ship from the aft perspective orbiting a planet below.

Me, me, me!
I wasn’t too thrilled with the premier episode of Enterprise, and I skipped the next few, but then I found it on Sunday night repeats and decided to give it another chance. When I heard the opening theme, I was reminded about the things I love about Star Trek – the romance of space exploration, the human interaction, and the philosophy. Now I’m thoroughly hooked on the show, and I look forward to hearing the theme each week.
Whaddya think they intentionaly chose such a sucky intro song, so the mediocre product that follows would look good by comparison?
I have old home movies of my kids screaming “whoosh” over the credits of TNG, and me flying them in front of the screen as the music blares. Can’t imagine getting that excited over this pap. Course my oldest, now 13, really likes the song.
I like it also!
Oh I just think it is sort of catchy and I am sort of a sucker for blow-dry poodle rock in spite of myself. I always catch myself enjoying ‘More Than A Feeling’ by Boston even though I really shouldn’t…it’s just so goshdurned…anthemic y’know. (wow that is such a cool argument that will convince them! er yeah)
What I am trying to clumsily say is it is corny and dumb, but sometimes corny and dumb is fun. Also it has a nice melody, I think it has more personality than the usual dull-as-ditchwater cod-classical dirge with model ships wooshing and comets swishing which is just sooo 1994 or something…
Wow maybe people are taking star trek too seriously…I mean it’s just a stupid tv show, who cares if it has a silly song at the beginning anyway? (oh oh please don’t flame me for saying that or baby Jesus will cry! sniff)
Its growing on my like an Evil Fungus, at times i can’t get it out of my head, soon it will corrupt and consume my conscious mind and drive me mad, mad, MAD!!!
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
