To answer, though… lurker and I are planning on it tonight. My fears are more out of who’s producing it (Hated Voyager with a passion!) than out of the promo spots I’ve seen. But, like the rest, I’m willing to give it a shot.
Of course, I’m sure I’ll unconciously be waiting for Scott Bakula to Leap out of there at any moment. 
I, not being a particularly rabid Star Trek fan, have been anxiously looking forward to this series. I know not why.
I do love the original series. I kind of liked New Generation. After that they really seemed to be stretching for shit (I thought Deep Space 9 was utter tripe).
This may be a stretch too, but I get a kick out of the whole “pre-quel” schtick. I’ll probably never see another episode after tonight, but the hype has me in its meathooks.
God, I hate to think the lengths they’d have to go to in order to make it worse than Voyager. I’m still going to watch it, though. With my fingers crossed. It’s such a damn cool idea–if they fuck it up, I’m never going to watch anything Star Trek again (besides TOS, of course).
Me, jkusters and thomasm will be watching quite expectantly - even having folks over for it.
(For the record, jkusters is arguably the Alpha Geek of our humble household, but he could be deposed with a little effort…)

I really hope he suits the role better than the previews I’ve seen make it look.

Yes. In fact my brother and his girlfriend are coming over and bringing pizza. Not really a party, but it will be nice to watch the first episode together.
It’s supposed to be on at 8 tonight, if I’m not mistaken. At least, that’s the time we’re planning on turning it on.
I set a reminder for it last week (I love digital cable), of course I’m watching. Got people coming over too!
I will be planted in front of the TV, at 9pm local (tape delay), and taping it.
Would have been at a premiere party, but those plans fell apart.
Everybody knows I’m watching it, which must be why I’ve had three requests from co-workers to tape it and make copies for them.
And in honor of this special occasion, I’ve decided to go all out and prepare a giant bowl of The Dip. For those of you who are not familiar with my culinary skills, this is one of about three things that I actually know how to prepare in the kitchen. It’s a Mexican cheese dip for nachos that is simply to die for. I’ve been asked to prepare it for parties, but I’ve refused. For some reason, it only seems appropriate for when you’ve planted your ass on the couch to watch an episode of Star Trek.
In fact, I’d better go buy us some beers before the boys arrive. This will be a Big Geek Out O-Rama.
I can’t wait. The concept is teriffic–it would be a terrible shame to see them screw it up.
I’ll be with him, cuddled up on the couch, munching on popcorn. At least, I hope we have popcorn. And I hope I can get a few bites.
