Is there a name for this manner of speaking?

We watched Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls and the movie is as bad as the name. Which for us, makes it so bad it’s good.

Onyx has a very unique style of speaking that I’ve never encountered outside of movies. Very fast. staccato words until the last word or two which can be drawn out with a rising/falling combo inflection.

The trailer in the IMDB link above shows some examples, but here he’s reading/reacting to reviews in character which showcases what I’m asking better.

Onyx reads your reviews.

His involuntary motions and verbal tics makes me think his character is supposed to have a form of Tourette syndrome as they are very similar to people I have interacted with in the past.

I was just wondering if there was an official name for the whole overall effect.

And yes, I do recommend the movie when you’re in the mood for some non-serious entertainment.

Well, it reminds me of the technique used in radio ads where they cram lots of words into shorter (hence cheaper) duration by compressing the space between words. Sorry, that’s all I got.

It sounds like some English dubs of 1970s Chinese Kung Fu movies. Also, some Speed Racer dubs.

Yeah, to me it just sounds like he’s trying way too hard to be unique.

I couldn’t watch more than a minute, but none of what I saw looked involuntary.

It sounds to me like certain YouTubers who amp up the excitement and speed up their voice. I know what stacatto speech you are talking about, but that usually has more of a struggling quality to it.

It also seems to fit the character, at least, as presented in the clip. He seems to be playing that type of YouTuber. Or, more accurately, parodying them. The air horns and video effects match perfectly.
