Is there a problem with panty lines?
This would be another big reason to avoid having panty lines - to prevent men from staring at your butt.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Not that you can ever prevent men from staring at your butt, but you are free to do whatever you think will best prevent their gaze. Saying VPL is “unfashionable” or “gross” still doesn’t make sense to me though. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to avoid having people know you’re wearing delicate and attractive undergarments.

Panties… schhhwing!!

Yeah, like VPL or no VPL is going to change anything about that.

You’re not supposed to see your undergarments under your clothes.

Wow. Are all teen age girls in open rebellion against their mothers on this issue? I teach high school, and this principle is not well known to the girls in my classes.

I’m not for VPL (But most of my clothing isn’t too sheer, so I’m usually safe) but what of visible bra strap? When I’m wearing a tank top, I usually wear a bra under, and the straps show. I don’t do it in a professional setting or anything, but I don’t really consider it to be too gauche. Like I’d wear it around my grandparents and assume they wouldn’t mind too much.

I find panty lines unattractive.

On top of that, if I see a woman who has them, I tend to think she’s clueless. Not like if I see them through her jeans at the supermarket on Sunday, but if she’s dressed herself up nicely, and has them. . .clueless.

Whew. I’m off the hook. My clothes are too casual to be considered dressing myself up nicely. Sorry, my underpants are cotton (healthiest) and they are a layer that has a thickness too it.

Plus, no one’s looking at my butt except to wonder at its sheer size. And not in a good way.

Which is worse? Cameltoe is probably the more interesting thing, however.

That’s a tough one. Usually I will wear a nude-colored bra or a strapless bra so you don’t see the strap. Or if you happen to have a bra the same color as your top (like a black bra with a black top is OK). But if you’re just around family or friends and you’re casual, I don’t see a problem.

This used to be considered tacky back in my day. However, I’ve recently been enlightened about wearing sheer pantyhose with open toed shoes, so probably I’m behind the times on this as well. When I was a teenager (1970’s) you never let your bra straps show in public. And ya wouldn’t let grandpa see 'em either (maybe granny). I don’t know what the rule is anymore.

From my male perspective it doesn’t look good. It suggests that the underwear itself may be poorly fitted even if the outerwear looks great.

Male here. I think it’s tacky and sloppy, but not as tacky as the black-thong-with-white-pants look. Ugh. Classless.

Hmmm, that’s a tough one.

Panty lines can be a great thing, when pulled off right. Just like the nice line on the side of a car, it can really bring out the nice shapely curve of a behind.

However, in the right circumstances, a cameltoe can be attractive too.
However, I hates me some mooseknuckle shudder, and there are some horrendous panty lines out there.

Oh, male in Texas BTW

These two commercials from the 1980s for Underalls explain pretty well the problem with panty lines:

The elastic broke in my underwear today so I had panty lines around my knees.

Does that count?

For the record, I think the DBC can be uber-hot.

And I’m a DUDE in boston.

Yet another reason why bbs2k rocks!

Yeah, but as far as I could tell from the YouTube quality, the panty lines were a serious problem, as in all the way down to the ass and bunchy looking. I can totally see how that looks sloppy. But what about just the side ones that go along the thigh and then fade out before any ass-bunching occurs? Those I don’t have a problem with, unless as mentioned upthread, it creates serious “double-butt-cheek” effect.

It looks tacky to me, like someone wearing colored underwear under white clothes. There are worse fashion disasters though.

On the other hand, while a protruding “eye-patch” can also be very sexy, I do find that look to be unprofessional. I guess MMV  .

Eye-patch?

No. Wrong. Cameltoe is never acceptable. VPL is bad, but cameltoe is unforgivable.

Yeah, the problem with the strapless bra is that the one that I own is very slippery. It usually ends up around my stomach after a few minutes of walking around. I suppose I could try a better fitting strapless. Though often I just go without since they don’t really need the support.

Try the Le Mystere strapless bra. Mine stays right where it belongs.

I will say that if I know I’m wearing something over the cami, I wear a normal bra. If it’s really hot outside and I want to stay cooler, I wear the strapless bra.
