Two words: smooth silhouette. Clothes look much nicer with a smooth silhouette.
Of course that was also the reason that a lot of women’s pants had/have no front pockets and a side sipper instead of a front zipper. From what I remember, that started easing in the seventies. I’m glad of that. I hate pants with no front pockets. Or with small ones that can’t hold a wallet.

I think it’s hilarious how we give Muslims so much shit for imposing weird dress restrictions on women, and then we do the same thing. We must hide that we have nipples and wear underwear, even though everyone knows we have both. We have fake legs we wear over our real legs to look “more professional.”
I don’t go out of my way to create panty lines, but I’m not going to wear a bacteria breeding non-cotton undie or some kind of hot and stuffy or open and ass riding contraption just to perpetuate the illusion that I’m not wearing the undies that my very society dictates i have to wear.
If people are going to speculate on my undergarments anyway (whether or not in a professional setting), I would much rather have them know that I am wearing underwear rather than have them ponder, even for a second, that I may not be. :eek:
Male here and I don’t find VPLs attractive.
From my perspective, your clothes should fit properly and accentuate your body. If I can see the outline of your underwear, your clothes are too tight and that’s not attractive.
We will ponder even if you showed it to us the day before.
Male here - I don’t really see what the big deal is. If you’re wearing pants that would show panty lines, we’re going to see thong lines too - trust us on this. That said, if you’re going for sex appeal, thong lines are somewhat suggestive but regular panty lines aren’t really.

I remember back in aught-five… maybe aught-six, but I think it was aught-five.
Such a problem with the farm bill… the cotton farmers couldn’t even afford to haul their crops to the gin, much less get it processed. Families huddled around the block waiting for their share of the ration. There was never enough to go 'round in any case.
