I have a friend who has written a book. In it, he claims to have discovered a formula that makes sense, in a new way, of the history of the cosmos as it relates to the bible. The whole thing strikes me as somewhat nuts, in a way that I have seen before, most notably among conspiracy theorists.

Is there a psychological term for the belief that one has an insight that no one else who has looked at the same evidence has seen? Or perhaps the need to find patterns where they don’t exist?
