Tantalus is close but not correct (my dictionary: the liquor is “locked up but still visible”).
Chest is the closest I can get, but when I use that search term I also get a lot of “treasure/pirate” crap. I’ve seen Ships Chest used, but for some reason end up finding a lot of decanter trays. Any one here a decanter set aficionado?
How about simply “liquor chest?” Because if I google that phrase, I find similar looking items.
OK, thanks. That works a lot better than ‘decanter set [chest]’, which for some reason I got hooked into thinking was the way to describe it.
Did anybody else read that as a “decanter chess set”? 'Cause that would be fancy.
I still strongly suspect that there is a more specific trade-name for what is in the picture I linked to. One reason is that the name tantalus is very specific; there must be a non-generic term for a chest-style liquor box (probably with a lock, but with no window for viewing the liquor). After another hour of searching, I think it is a certain style of cellarette (?)
