I want to visit news sites, but they take so long to load. Presumably this is caused by the little clips advertising new movies and dating sites, etc.
I would still like to clips of news items when I select them, but not have to wait for the slow load.
I suppose the browser is telling sites I have a fast line (or else people with slower services would never be able to use their sites at all).
Can I somehow make my browser tell those sites I have a slow line, so I would get the old-fashioned static ads?
What browser do you use? I use Firefox 2 with the AdBlock extension and it works great for blocking ads like these. In fact, it’s the #1 reason I switched to Firefox - I was doing development on a Web site that used these types of slow, intrusive ads and it was driving me nuts while I was having to reload the page over and over (during development, of course).
There might be similar browser plugins for IE, if that is what you use.
