Is there a way to watch live sports online?

Legally!
I know you can’t watch the NFL unless the game is on the NFL network and even then, it is heavily interrupted.
I just got rid of cable and am missing the NBA playoffs…also I am curious about baseball. thanks.

Major League Baseball [link] will let you watch every game – with the exception of the “local” games – for a hundred bucks a year. I am around 100 miles north of NYC and both the Yankees and Mets are blacked out, though.

I’m not sure what the NFL’s deal is, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the NFL streamed the whole Super Bowl for free – just the regular broadcast audio plus a choice between one of 2 camera views, without the fancy graphics and so on.

The answer to the question is yes. The answer, with your caveat, is maybe. If the network websites or the various sporting entities don’t offer it, then the answer is no.

I don’t know of a way to stream individual games legally, they usually come as a package. This late in the NBA season it certainly wouldn’t make sense to pay top dollar for their package. Baseball would probably be OK unless your team faces blackouts (and I have no idea what MLB’s policy is).

Major league baseball (mlb.com) also has one game for free every day. You can’t pick and choose and follow your team, obviously, but if you just want to tune in every so often, it’s great.

We watch tennis online on ESPN3. They have other sports but I don’t notice which ones. Some tennis is not available live e.g. finals that are on the major networks is not available live and sometimes not even in the archives.

CBC always streams Hockey Night In Canada. For free.

Also available in Punjabi.

Many cable companies give you access to ESPN3 to watch ESPN content online. They’re streaming some of the NBA playoffs as well as most of their baseball coverage.

I subscribe to mlb.tv as well. I can watch any game except for the Cubs and White Sox live. I can watch Cubs/White Sox after the game is over.

As an Indians fan who lives in Arizona, I’m a huge fan of mlb.tv - it’s SO much better than Extra Innings. Cheaper, too. It looks like the NBA’s League Pass is available both on cable and streaming, but it doesn’t say how much it is for the remainder of the season, or even if it’s still available (the page goes straight to a sign-up for info for next season.)

MLB’s blackout policy is, I think, within 100 miles of the game, so if you want it to watch your home team, you’re out of luck. Also most Saturday games are blacked out. But you can watch them after the fact with mlb.tv - and, if you get the premium version, you can watch either team’s broadcast.

It’s way more extensive than that: map. All of New York state is blacked out for both NYC teams.

Yeah, the entire MLB.TV blackout policy is at the bottom of this page. Sorry - I was going off the top of my head.
