Websites with song lyrics are a dime a dozen, but they are frequently full of errors. It seems that any random dumbass writes down what he thinks the lyrics are to a song, and then posts them to these sites.
Example, using that timeless classic "Ice Ice Baby"on lyrics007.com:
Dance go rush to the speaker that booms
I’m killing your brain like a poisonous mushroom
Deadly when I play a dope melody
Anything less than the best is a felony
Love it or leave it you better gain weight
You better hit bull’s eye the kid don’t play
If there was a problem yo I’ll solve it
Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it
Line 1 should be “bum rush,” not “go rush”; Line 5 should be “you better gain way,” not “you better gain weight.” There are also several other errors on this web page.
Is there a site that actually has the correct lyrics to songs?
You can always try lyrics.wikia.com. A site I learned about from here on the Dope. I can’t tell you how accurate their stuff is for your specific example, but it’s not too far away for you to do it yourself.
I don’t know if it’s the same thing as “Song Wikia” but someone here once linked to LyricWiki, which is pretty comprehensive, and I think malware-free (unlike some of the lyrics sites).
Lyric Wiki is the one I use. I didn’t know there was another song wiki? http://lyrics.wikia.com/Main_Page
I second the warning about random song sites. I got infected one time. I googled a song and went to the first lyric hit. Had to reformat my laptop to remove vundo. Vundo just keeps coming back after cleaning. Reformat is the only fix.
Far East Movement:Like A G6
Poppin bottles in the ice, like a blizzard
When we drink we do it right gettin slizzard
Sippin sizzurp in my ride, like Three 6
Now I’m feelin so fly like a G6
Like a G6, Like a G6
Now I’m feelin so fly like a G6
I don’t have a problem. Note that that was just the first song on the page.
I think you just have to read the lyrics for any song on a dozen-or-so different sites and take the average of them all.
It’s like trying to get an accurate reconstruction of what the Bible says – they take all the ancient manuscripts they can find, in a dozen different ancient languages, hidden away in caves and monastery attics, and compare them literally word-for-word, and try to make their best scholarly guesses as to what the long-lost original text said. – And then they end up with nearly half of each page consisting of footnotes giving every alternate word or phrase for everything on the page.
