Is there any real way to make money online?

Or anyway else to make money outside of online? I tried survey websites, but it just leads me to another mess of survey websites that don’t go anywhere. I’m writing this because my cat is very sick. I already spent $800 on her vet bill. I need to take her again, but I’m trying to find a way to pay off the first bill. :frowning:

If you want to make fiddling small change while messing with your computer, try Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. It has dinky to medium tasks at from 2 cents a pop up. It’s not much, but it’s always there.

The first payment takes up to two weeks. After that they pay you weekly.

As for working offline - the fastest job I’ve ever gotten, again for not much pay, was delivering papers. That was a long time ago, so I don’t know what the market for it is any more. Some of the big auto routes used to pay up to $1,000 a month and you’d be done by 6:30 AM.

Too late to edit.

With the holidays coming up, you might be able to substitute for a regular deliverer who wants a vacation. The down side of those jobs is that if you’re going to miss a day, you’re responsible for finding and paying your sub. Make sure you don’t get underpaid subbing.

If you can get a website that a lot of people look at, and put Google Adsense ads on it you can make some money. Was a time I could count on over $1,000/month (and up to $5,000) from that source… though my site has slowed up lately.

You can try to sell plasma, you can make $60 or so a week doing that. Also craigslist sometimes has paid studies and surveys you can be part of under the volunteer section. Most are unpaid but some pay for your time. However you have to live in a decently sized city in order to find enough studies.

Thinking a little outside the box: poker (if you’re any good, of course)

FWIW, online gambling is a felony in Washington.

A friend of mine makes money with porn sites. I don’t know how much, but he used to make about $50k/year. Since the porn business has changed, he makes considerably less now. To make the big bucks you need to provide the site, rather than to rely on selling subscriptions to the sites.

In the good old days, I would buy into three PokerStars games for a dollar apiece, and play until I had doubled or tripled up in all of them.

It’s a different world since the UIGEA (or whatever).

You have to be damn good to make money at online poker nowadays.

It looks confusing, just at a quick glance, it seems to be something about computer programming … ? The beginning parts of the FAQ seem all to be talking about computer programming and tasks.

Here in Philly – definitely a “decently sized city” – they’re listed under “ETC” in the jobs section.

I score standardized test essays online from home. It is a second job that I do from time to time. It pays for vacations and some nicer Christmas presents. Usually work in late October-December and then again in March-July.

You can buy stuff from thrift stores and flip it on ebay. You can easily make $800 a month if you are good at spotting collectibles or things that you can resell for a decent profit after ebay and paypal costs (Approx 15-20%). All you need is a digital camera.

On a separate note if paying thousands for the care of a sick or injured cat is going to put you real financial peril, you may need to think about the bigger picture and putting the cat to sleep. Becoming impoverished or homeless to save a dying cat may sound very loving and sacrificing, but it’s also a very dangerous plan on multiple levels.

If you are proficient in web searching, you can try information and/or document retrieval. There are many companies and investigation agencies that rely on information and document retrieval from online sources.

Thanks, I always appreciate hearing from you on the boards.

How does one get started with that? Sounds like something I’d actually almost like doing.

I’d like more information too. Thanks!
