One of my coworkers has a poster of Aki, the CGI girl from the Final Fantasy movie, in a bikini. It’s fairly convincing. There’s no (technical) reason they couldn’t do a spread in, say, Playboy.
I’m actually a little surprised she hasn’t, yet.

When I saw the question about “virtual porn”, I was thinking something more along the lines of cyberpunk simstim as mentioned in Neuromancer.

In addition to thousands of anime-porn titles, there are also large number of interactive CGI porn game/movies. The realism looks to be somehwere between Final Fantasy and The Sims, and steadily getting closer to the former.
If you’re really interested, you can check out Renderotica. The stuff I’ve seen is the use of software to create rendered images. These look like animations, such as in Shrek or some other overrated computer animation movie. I haven’t seen any virtual porn that could be mistaken for images of actual people.
They showed some on Real Sex not too long ago. I think the software was called Virtual Valerie .
Funny that you asked that. I was working on a web site for a major porn star a year and a half ago. Regretablly the deal fell through because she was buzy and our schedules never matched up and I got fed up and quit.
Anyway, she wanted me to develop a game with her and some other guy as the stars. She was well known for bondage-domination stuff. (She won the porn industries version of an Oscar for best actress at one point). The player would take the dominate role and, well, do whatever they do. She wanted the game to use live footage of real people which could have been workable.
If she doesn’t make the game someone else will have the idea and produce something like it.
I really wish it had worked out because it would have meant alot of money.
