Is there anyone else who "binge listens" a band?

No. I will listen to an album and pick a new album I think I might like, but I’ve never listened to an entire band’s discography at once. At least not unless the bands first album really spoke to me.

Yes I used to this a lot and do it to a lesser extent. It is quite normal. I would binge listen to an artist and similar artist or a certain genre or era of music. Say 80’s new wave/new romantic then grunge nineties and then disco 70’s.

Right now I am going through a binge of The Police and Sting. It is easier to do with YouTube.

I binge listened to the Beatles for about six years straight growing up.

Yes
Genesis
Rush
Led Zep
Cheap Trick
Another band who’s name escapes me…
I can be obsessive at times.

Styx, The Beatles and Sting.

There was a thread a while ago about Bob Dylan’s recent albums. I stopped listening to him during his “Christian” period. But then people in that thread raved about his more recent music especially:

1989 OH MERCY
1990 UNDER THE RED SKY
1992 GOOD AS I BEEN TO YOU
1993 WORLD GONE WRONG
1997 TIME OUT OF MIND
2001 LOVE & THEFT
2006 MODERN TIMES

If you’re interested, start with MODERN TIMES. It is really wonderful.

I binge regularly.

Dylan, Neil Young, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson, Paul Simon.

I think I just listed my seven favorite artists.
mmm

Occasionally, I’ll binge on the Bonzo Dog Band or the Beatles.

I do tend to get fixated on one musician or group’s discography at a time, so I can compare the albums and ponder any trends or overarching themes running through their music. I don’t listen in chronological order or to each and every album though.

Early Dylan and the Stones. Life-long binge on both.

Cool! A fan of early Steve Miller. I love his early stuff–Going to Mexico, Space Cowboy, and a whole lot of others!

The closest to binging I’ve gotten to is with Chicago and Third Eye Blind.

I have Songs of the Day that have considerable staying power. Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder was my Song of the Day for like two weeks.

Yup. I’ve had Really Red on heavy rotation for a few months now, just old songs from when I was younger.

Once he was mentioned in the Counting Crows song Monkey, I binge-listened to the entire (at that point) Ben Folds Five catalog.

I binged on Wilco, too, when I first heard them.

I do that too, but then my brain gets saturated and I can’t listen to the band for a while, have to give them a break for a while. Recent binge listens: maroon 5 adele talking heads metallicaLatest binge listen: A-ha. The 80’s band? One hit wonder in the States but has a really great discography.Great exception is are the Beatles. They never get old

Yep, I’ll go on binges. Sometimes it’s a particular artist and sometimes it’s just a single song. For some songs, I’ve got different versions and often by different artists. Sometimes I find playing a song to death is the only way to rid myself of an earworm.

Hunting down a song can be rewarding. Last time, I was searching for versions of “Fields Of Gold” and I discovered Eva Cassidy. So I went on an Eva Cassidy binge. It’s a shame she’s gone, she was great!

Defnintely. Binging on Paul Simon as I write this. I heard The Boy in the Bubble on the radio yesterday and have been listening to Paul Simon pretty much the rest of the day and again today. It will probably go on for a while then I won’t listen to him for some time.

The best part of binges for me is delving into and discovering new YouTube stuff like old concert footage, videos, interviews etc that otherwise missed my notice.

Current binge:
Bow Wow Wow

Preceding recent binges:
Throwing Muses
Blue Oyster Cult
Shocking Blue
Love and Rockets

I use Amazon Prime, and they quite often feature an artist or band’s entire catalog on Prime for a month. So sure, whenever they have one that I like, I’ll listen to everything available - soup to nuts.

Not very often for me.

The closest thing I can think of is that sometimes a song will come up randomly from my iTunes library and I’ll sort of re-discover how much I like the artist and switch over to listening from just that artist. Def Leppard is probably at the top of that list. Most of their music is old and beloved enough (by me anyway) that I practically know it all by heart, so I don’t seek it out in my music library very often. But then something will come up and I think “Why haven’t I listened to these guys more recently?!”

The other example that comes up for me is more album-related. Probably my two favorite albums of all time are Blind Guardian’s A Night at the Opera and A Twist in the Myth. It’s almost a crime to listen to just one song without stopping to appreciate the entire album.
