Is there anyone else with your same name (First Last)?

Wow, same here, except my namesake had a career good enough to rate a wikipedia page.

Yes, actually. A criminal who thought he was a vampire and stabbed a guy because he (the guy) wouldn’t let him (the criminal) drink his (the guy’s) blood.

Dude looks nothing like me.

One other person.

My last name is very uncommon, everyone with it or a variation on it is a relative. My first name is also not real common, but not rare.

Even so, a very distant cousin ended up with my first and last name.

But I take ultimate solace in being the first of that name combination.

According to http://howmanyofme.com there are 1 or fewer people in the US with my name combo.

When I was 7 my family moved to a different part of town, to a new construction neighborhood. My siblings and I would all be going to a different school.

Turns out at this new school there was another kid, in my same grade, in my same class, with the same first and last name (different middle name). He lived two streets over from me. There were only like 4 Asian kids in the entire school, two of them were my brother and I, and the third was this kid (the fourth actually had the same last name as the rest of us, but a different first name).

The school eventually put the other kid in a different class, and we ended up going to different middle and high schools. We were aware of each other during those years at that elementary school but we were never friends.

Yes. One lived a half a block away when I was a kid (he was a bit older than me) and was not related. Caused no end of problems with the mail and stuff.

Other than that, there are tons as I have a very common first and last name.

if you google my first name/last name combination, you’ll mostly find pages about a convicted felon in New England. So, I have a bare-bones Facebook page mostly in case I ever need to say “no, that’s not me, this is me.”

There is an author of a cozy mysteries series with my middle name as her first name and my last name (both spelled the same as mine) and a different spelling of my first name for her middle name (which I just found out, having seen her wiki page).

A number who come up on a search, mostly professors in various areas of the humanities. One is a noted writer on gay legal issues, going back a ways. There is one actor in IMDb with my name, but it’s one of those situations (one credit, not very appealing) where it doesn’t make me happy.

My father shared a name and middle initial with another gent in our hometown. It led to a few weird incidents, but ultimately, well, it probably killed him. (My father was mugged and found in a coma, and taken to the hospital where they assumed he was Senior X. Barbarian, not Senior Q. Barbarian. Senior X. Barbarian was a lifetime drunk who was in the ER to sleep it off once a week. My dad was allowed to “sleep it off” until irrecoverable damage was done.)

Yes, and they all think my gmail address is theirs.

My mom for one, and if I do a vanity search I can turn up 8 other girls or women with our name who aren’t related to us.

A meteorologist in Florida!! I’m FAMOUS!! If you google my name she comes up as well as badly written fanfics by someone who most DEFINITELY wasn’t me 15 years ago. Not at all. Nope.

There are a few of me around, never met any of the others.
My Dad got the much commoner name; the chair of my old school governors had the same name as him, so I occasionally got to bring notes home from school with his name on, to get him to sign and bring back.

One of my classmates had previously been at a school where she had been one of three girls with her full name, all in the same class (it only had one class per year, so moving students around to avoid the problem wasn’t an option).

It looks like there are 130 folks in the U.S. with my name. Unfortunately, years ago I did have “interaction” with one who lived in my city. Aurora Maire was her married name. It all started with collection calls about and her husband (who had the same name as my brother!). Then I started getting phone calls from men who insisted that I had given them my number in a bar. Some woman apparently had me followed since she showed up at an apartment I had moved in to the day before. She accused me of having an affair with her husband and showed me a matchbook with my name and phone number on it. I looked at the picture she showed me of her husband and told her that if I was going to have an affair, it wouldn’t be with him. I eventually got her to go away.

It got worse. It turns out that Aurora was a stripper and she was the star witness at a trial involving the owner of several strip clubs. There was a lot of publicity about it. I started getting calls from men offering to “help me out”. It got really creepy and I was actually concerned for my safety for a while. And my mother’s friends asked her if it was me!

She moved to Texas after the trial. I found that out because some time later I got a bill from a lab for performing an HIV test on her in a prison there. A few years later, I got a call from her mother who kept insisting that she was my mother. And a few years after that, I got a call from her daughter she had given up for adoption. Thankfully, that was the last time I’ve heard about her.

Quitre a few and what I find interesting after Googling my name is that we share many of the same interests.

If I ever get myself together I am going to start a kind of “club” where I plan on contacting as many as possible to get their business cards and maybe start some sort of “self fan club”.

When driving around the country I have stopped at businesses that share my same last name and gotten something from them like a flier or business card.

There was a woman with my name in the 1850s, and I’m stunned. I have a common first name, but uncommon last name, and never thought I’d see anyone with that combination.

I can’t possibly imagine there being another Bob Smith on this planet now or at any time previous.

i know 3 snowboarder bo’s myself

Oh, and I’ve also TAed for a class that had two students with the same name. Both first and last name were very common (something like “Joseph Jameson”), and it was one of those freshman lecture courses with over a hundred students, so it wasn’t too surprising. Fortunately, they had different middle initials.

And at one of the schools I teach at, there are a couple of students (in 11th and 12th grade) who have slightly different spellings of the same first and last name. Both are very common names from that culture, and it’s a big school, so again, it’s not too surprising. What is surprising is that they’re both enough of a discipline problem that a sub would remember both of their names.

There’s a long-time nationally-known sports reporter with my name. Still active, IIRC.
