As far as I know, I’m the only one. I have a very unique Polish last name. Interestingly enough, there is another person in my (rather large) company whose name is spelled similarly to mine. I’m constantly receiving emails meant for him.
My name (first or last) isn’t terribly common… but Google says there’s an insurance agent with a significant online presence, with the same first & last name, in Missouri. I’m pretty certain we’re not related, but not 100% certain.
I’ve only had two jobs where a coworker had the same first name.
When I was still relatively new to the Marines and on my first overseas deployment, there was a Marine in my squadron with a similarly pronounced, but differently spelled last name, who I had never met. He was on a MEU deployment (a different chain of command than ours), and was lost at sea one night when he fell into the Pacific from the tail of the helicopter he had been working on. I learned later that our CO was within 5 minutes of calling my wife to offer his condolences a couple days after the official death notification had been made, before he realized two letters in our last names were different. I cannot imagine what it would have been like for my wife to get that phone call.
A couple people in the US and dozens in Europe share my married name.
Two of my best friends had names that I thought would have been unique. But thanks to the internet, I found one had the same name as a clergyman in Australia, and the other a namesake of a woman who die in Nebraska a few decades ago.
