Huh, not what I’d expected!
No worries at all. Just thought I’d clarify. I did watch some videos on how to build a deck and it really doesn’t look that hard, but I’ve bitten off more than I can chew too many times to trust my abilities.
Kayaker, I keep telling Y’all.
I keep forgetting how lousy my memory is.
Sorry, I thought you were joking about my user name! You have no obligation to remember anything about me. LOL
Well, I’m in construction, obviously, but I’m 54 with a bad back (see “construction”). I think this is something you could do if you take it in little bites. Have the lumberyard cut the fiberon to length. Find 2x2s instead of ripping 2x4s. Screw 1 or 2 boards at a time and take a break. Carpentry can be fun if you use your head! Tools needed–tape measure, saw, drill/driver.
Please correct me, if needed: there shouldn’t be any permits to acquire as it wouldn’t be a permanent structure and it wouldn’t be high enough off the ground, yes?
Non-structural, not permanent, really. No permit needed. No comment on HOAs or anything, though.
::Making the sign of the Evil Eye at HOAs (ptoo, ptoo)::
No, no permit as far as I know. Lumber prices may preclude this option though.
I wish life would get back to normal.
If it’s structurally stable you could cover it with stone/rubber/cement pavers. That can be a little costly but we recently did it with out cement patio that I was tired of cleaning. Looks 100% better and is much easier to keep nice looking.
