Is there good social science on gay child-rearing? Or is it bupkiss?

I’ve been debating this issue, and as someone who dabbles in statistical work, I’m highly disappointed with what I can find on gay parenting. Most of the studies I can find have small sample sizes that, even more depressingly, are so far removed from EPSEM to be laughable. And given this, people like this guy:

seem to be trashing the social science that supports the claim that gays can be just as good at rearing kids as heterosexuals. So is the social science here truly this spotty? And geez, WHY is it so spotty? I know that money is always a problem in forming a good study, but surely someone has the cash to get a randomly drawn sample size of over a 100 or something. What’s up here?

Ive never quite understood why its important to show there are no differences.

I would have thought the starting position would be more to demonstrate that there are significant differences in child outcomes and for it not to be proscribed until evidence is provided to support such, whereupon the discussion might start over whether discrimination might be necessary as a result.

A bit naive I must admit.
