Is there SDMB analog in the UK ?

So is there or we’ve got enough Brits here to answer any UK specific questions ?

NADS is a SDMB off-shoot (although they don’t like to admit it). But yeah, just stick a Brit/UK reference in a thread title, and plenty of us will spot it. Or, do a search for ‘mornington crescent’ to see how often we manage to hijack discussions

Er, we do. NADS stands for “Non-American Dopers Society” so its implicit in the name. :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t remember who it was, and I can’t find it now, but somebody was insistent that the name didn’t stand for anything.

As its progenitor, I can guarantee you this is untrue. I personally didn’t totally favour the name, as it was too exclusively anti-US, but it was the best idea we had at the time (2002? I can’t remember). The sole criterion for membership was that participants shouldn’t have to make us explain what Marmite is, should we happen to mention it.

Well you learn something every day.

I always thought it was based on NADS=BALLS=BULLSHIT

Well yes, that was the double meaning.

During the world cup I did a banner that had a squad of footballers holding their bollocks, with the word “NADS” across it. DYSWIDT?

It’s also a hair removal cream in Australia.

No Apparent Damned Significance?

It’s all Bollocks…if the brits on the boards are not making sense then we have plenty of people to add English subtitles for them here on the SDMB.

‘Rio’, by Duran Duran.

You’re ‘avin’ a bubble me old china.
