I still like trying new things, music TV, movies, etc. but I do find as I get older I have less patience and I am quicker to bail on something if I don’t like it.
I’d say I have more discretion when than when I was younger. There’s a LOT of crap up there simply because I put up with it when I was young, so I’m stuck explaining why I know all the words to “Billy, Don’t Be A Hero” even though I never liked it. Decades later, I know “Thrift Shop” because I do like it, and skip stuff like “Anaconda” or “Fancy.” Same with other media.
Well, I know all the words cause it WAS my favorite after ‘Seasons in the Sun’ and ‘Save the Last Dance for Me.’
At least I liked Steely Dan and my first album was “Hunky-Dory”
Edit: I should add that I would have a lot more tolerance for songs like “Fancy” if they were novelty songs and not a trend. I had no problem with Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” cause…well, it’s kind of a novelty song.
